Help! I can't save my character at the end of QFG2. I had problems importing from QFG1, but knew the trick about copying the character to a Glory folder I created on my hard drive. I had no problem importing afterwards. Now I can't save the character for QFG3. Does my problem have anything to do with how I imported the character? What should I do? merlin.gif

Have you installed the patches? There was an import/outport bug in the game, so you'll need the patch. Also, be sure to check out the folder in which the character will be saved and what you name the file as, so it won't just go past your eyes. The patches used to be on the main site here, IIRC. Let us know if you get the problem fixed.
"Fear holds us and binds us and keeps us from growing... It kills a small piece of us each day. It holds us to what we know and keeps us from what's possible, and it's our worst enemy. Fear doesn't announce itself; it's disguised, and it's subtle. It's choosing the safe course; most of us feel we have 'rational' reasons to avoid taking risks... The brave man is not the one without fear, but the one who does what he must despite being afraid. To succeed, you must be willing to risk total failure; you must learn this."

As far as know it doesn't ask you for a file or character name...it asks to insert a writable floppy and it automatically names it smile.gif!

If you're playing in DOSBox, be sure to consider that if you save to a folder, say, "c:\GlorySave" that you have to account for what you mounted your harddrive as. I always have C: (my drive) mounted as C:\Sierra, so that subdirectory works at C: in DOSBox. Therefore, the path (in DOSBox) for my save folder is C:\QGChars, when in reality on my actual harddrive it's C:\Sierra\QGChars. Also, if you're trying to save them to your floppy drive, make sure you mount that drive as well. Hope that helps smile.gif

Frankly I always have difficulty in mounting the floppy drive as well as CDROM in DOSBox, so gave it up and when I end the game I do it in MS-DOS.

I am playing in DOS Box. I didn't think I needed the patches when I used DOS Box. I only mounted my C drive. I will try to save it to my Glory folder since when I played the first QFG1 on the diskette, I had to copy my saved character to the c drive inorder to import it. I have never had a problem just saving the character before.

I guess my question now is do I still need the patches if I am playing in DOS Box? merlin.gif

I think you will do better if you do install the patch, just one is enough, Star Maiden! DOSBox or not you'll need it to get past Yorick in his Maze smile.gif!

I think the timer bug only happens in the VGA version smile.gif

You may very right about the EGA Version not needing a patch! It's so long ago when I played that I don't remember it.

Thanks everyone. The game seems to be working so far. I do remember some timer issues in the Laibon's hut, but I wasn't playing it in DOS box then.

Thanks again!
