So, I know this exceeds the purpose of this thread, but could anyone help me out with a damaged Gold Rush disk?

The problem is with Disk 2 of the 3.5'' version (the game also came with five 5 1/4" disks, but not having a floppy drive makes them useless), I get the typical "Disk needs formatting" error when I place it into the disk drive. I was wondering if it'd be possible to format the disk and then place an image of it back on to it. Would that work or am I oversimplifying the problem?

Right! Over 3 months after my initial post, I've gathered my ladder and pulled down my copy of Gold Rush. Here's a pic.

Box, discs, map, manuals and book. That's a rice cracker in the middle, so you'll all know for certain it's a pic taken by me. If anyone can send me the files from Disk 2 of the 3.5" version over e-mail, I'd appreciate it.

Funny or weird frown.gif? Hotmail did say "emailing Gold Rush" etc and the folder was shown? Yahoo didn't attach it, why I don't know? So I'll try once more if it fails again I will tell you Elsa smile.gif!

And Elsa when I re-installed Dragon Fire something very funny has happened <heehee>. When I go to the Arena to watch a fight (3rd and 4th weeks) there are Abduel and Kokeeno lying dead while Elsa is standing D)? Then in the 4th week Elsa comes to fight Abduel then the next day when she comes in there two Abduels lying and two Elsas standing, nevertheless she fights and the ones standing also get wounded???
I have re-reinstalled the game again and after using the patches started a new game!!! Is it a bug?

Yes, it's a known bug Grand Dad, but if I remember correctly, the 1.2 patch is supposed to fix that...

It was a humurous situation nevertheless smile.gif!
I had installed both patches, but the bug occured anyway. Tomorrow I'll uninstall and reinstall if it persists!

Now I've zipped and attached the Gold Rush folder to Druss, before when I tried to send it both Hotmail and Yahoo objected to certain files. Am waiting to hear from him.

PEACE!!!

Hi Grand Dad, I got the zip file on hotmail. I unzipped it and the game ran fine, though I was wondering if you didn't have just the files on the second 3.5" disk that you could send me? I wanted to place them back into the original disk (which was corrupted and I had to format it).

By the way, yes, I've played a few MicroProse games. Not many though. Rex Nebular, Dragonsphere, Return of the Phantom, BloodNet (vampires + cyberpunk = instant awesome), a couple of Star Trek games and Civilization 2. There's a couple I want to play too, like Darklands and Covert Action.

Thanks for your help.

Aha Druss I am happy I was useful to you smile.gif! But you see my floppies are 5.25" big ones, if they'd been the smaller 3.5" there would've been no problem!

I am glad you like the MPS games, BUT Civilization I is the greatest...I have all four of them but they don't compare with Civ. I.

Happy Guesting & Gaming!!

Ah, no worries then. I've been meaning to get a 5.25" drive for a while now, but I keep pushing it back. There's a bunch of older games I want to play but can't.

Thanks again.
