Recently I played HQ as a thief. I realized that my stealth skill would not pass 57 and I have no idea why. For the first time ever I used a cheat to make it to 100. I did not like doing that but I felt I had no other choice. Has anyone else had a problem trying to max out the stealth skill?

Being lost is a state of having misplaced yourself. This is often done by very foolish people. "Lost" can also apply to a possession or thing that you have misplaced. Note, if you survive a plane crash and are subsequently stuck on an island, you are not Lost, you are f*cked.

Upping the stealth skill in the EGA version was damned tough, but I figured a way to deal with it: What you need to do is enter a lot of screens where you are at risk of meeting a wandering monster. Each time you enter a screen where a monster just might attack, i.e. the forest, the game will test for stealth success.
If successful, you will get a message that a monster just wandered by and experience in stealth. So if you want experience fast, go back and forth, back and forth, between two forest screens. Just be aware that you cant see monsters attacking, so suddenly they'll be upon you. Just run away, then.
You gain experience only when you dodge a monster.

Thank you for posting that. I had no idea that would boost your Stealth skill in all the years I had played the EGA version.

I discovered that the sneak skill could be used to avoid monsters almost completely by accident once. It was a brilliant touch by the programmers that I don't think that many players caught onto.
