Yeah, a Paladin with magic skills is almost a god by the time you hit Dragon Fire.

I generally like to play as either a thief or fighter - but I give either one of them some magic skills. I do so for a very simple reason; let's face it, having magic skills in QfG is a very useful thing indeed. wink.gif Besides, once you get to Dragon Fire and need to disable those Greek dancing traps, it's much easier to simply cast "Trigger" on the trap. wink.gif

Of course it's cheating (well, just slightly)... but it's better than being dead. wink.gif My QfG5 paladin must have died at least 5 times in Minos's treasure room while trying to unlock that final door to get Erana to float into the room and whisk my paladin and Elsa off to fight the dragon. There's so much pressure on solving the trap before the timer hits 0 - and that "boom boom" music really doesn't help very much... frown.gif

Anyway, that's what I normally do. wink.gif

There are many types of magic, but all require a sharp mind and a cool head. There is no puzzle I can't solve, no problem I can't think my way out of. When you feel confused or uncertain, you can always rely on me to untangle the knots and put everything back in order for you.

You could just use the Magic Ward ability and absorb the damage when forceing the gate open. wink.gif

I play the ever-versitile magic-wielding Thief.

And in Qg4 the fighter can learn to climb (semi)automatically
Gaily bedight, a gallant knight in sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long, singing a song, in search of El Dorado.
But he grew old, this knight so bold, and o'er his heart a shadow,
Fell as he found no spot of ground that looked like El Dorado.
And as his strength failed him at length, he met a pilgrim shadow.
'Shadow,' said he,' Where can it be, this land of El Dorado?'
'Over the mountains of the Moon, down the Valley of the Shadow.
Ride, boldly ride,' the shade replied,' if you seek for El Dorado.'

I played multi-class Thief, but the only non-Thief skill I added was Parry. I could never play without it.

I never multi-class. I feel it impacts negatively on one's game character, and it's as confusing as trying to waterski on your head.

I generally start playing as a warrior. I follow up usually by playing as a thief. Third time around, I'm a mage.

Interestingly enough, the first time I played QFG (then Hero's Quest), I did it as a thief. I then played as a fighter and finally as a wizard.

Multi class magic user. Although I try not to develop other skills too high. I want it to be realistic, and my character is a reflection of me: sort of multi-skilled but not a huge expert in either of them.
