I inquired on Blake00's behalf on what the Coles were planning/doing. There was a talk of a possible kickstarter, but we didn't know what was coming. Was he talking about version 3.0 of the School for Heroes or a completely new game? Corey doesn't know either honestly, but he's narrowed it down.

In one personal e-mail, he said.

QUOTE
Hi, sorry I’m getting behind in email. We’ve had a chaotic few weeks - family stuff and photography shows taking up a lot of time.

So that's what they were up to recently. The rest was personal information for myself. The second e-mail I did for Blake00 is the one you'll want though. I got this:

QUOTE
We aren’t quite sure what we’ll be doing for a project. It’s mostly up to me to get started. Things we’ve talked about include:

1. A Rogue-like dungeon game, but with a little more fixed puzzles and story than a pure Rogue implementation – Rogue is purely random.

2. A Pathfinder adventure, possibly a reworking of my out of print Tower of Indomitable Circumstance D&D module.

3. Lori and Mishell Baker’s juvenile fantasy novel. We would raise money on Kickstarter, they would do a final revision of it, then self-publish it mostly for people who contribute on the Kickstarter.

4. A Pathfinder sourcebook for the World of Gloriana (the Quest for Glory world).

5. A remake of Quest for Glory 1 if we can get a license.

6. A new RPG/adventure which might or might not use a QG license. (That would be a marketing question – Would be raise enough more by calling it Quest for Glory to justify the license cost?)

7. The School for Heroes 3.0 as a kickstarted project. We would have to decide if it should have some for-pay features which we could give away as premiums to supporters.

I plan to start with #1 with no funding, then give it away as a teaser for the Kickstarter campaign for #5, 6, or 7. It’s as much to get me back into the rhythm of doing a project as it is for marketing. The other possibility, of course, is to sell the dungeon game as a finished product.

I was about to get started on this a month ago when all Hell broke loose...

The rest of the message was of a personal nature, but they're doing alright. It may just take awhile longer for him to sort through real life things. So there it is. The Coles are still planning on making games. They will have new things to share! It'll just take awhile.

Really awesome news here. I know I'd put in a good chunk of money for any kickstarter the Coles offer up!

That is awesome! After just reading some rather disappointing and demoralising news here regarding freedom of speech, reading this thread just put a little smile back on my face and reminded me why I came back here in the first place. However much like in 2010 when similar events occurred to me I think it’s best if I take a break for a little while so everyone especially myself can cool off and try to move past the issue.

My website and everything (and I mean everything) I post here is because of my love/obsession for QFG, ALL its fan projects and my desire to not separate but instead bring all the little patches of QFG fan communities out there together by sharing news and content so we can all work together on more fan projects, walkthroughs and share our love for all things QFG related. So thankyou sincerely for reading my other thread about the Coles and taking the time to contact them on my behalf James, you’re a champ! smile.gif I’ll have to let the other QFG communities know about your post as so many people will be thrilled to see this!

With this plus the ‘Quest for Infamy’ kickstarter and now rumours over at the AGS forums that the other big QFG fan project ‘Heroine’s Quest’ is nearing completion it means exciting times are ahead for us remaining diehard QFG fans, just got to stick together! smile.gif

Oh for Chester's sake! Blake, little comments like that about freedom of speech aren't necessary. I like you, man. So please, don't leave the forums over a rule you don't agree on.

As for freedom of speech, this board isnot the USA or owned by an American. Think of it as a foreign country and having to follow cultural customs no matter how much they conflict with your own liberties.

I ask that we all please drop this. It's really been a sore subject in our community in the past. If you have any issues about it, please PM me smile.gif

Oh, I do believe in Freedom of Speech, and that's not an American thing, it's a worldwide thing by the way.

But that doesn't mean I have to accept posts related to porn, foul language and spam in my forum. If that was the case, I'm pretty sure this board would be full of those things right now.

My name is Elsa Von Spielburg and I am a Paladin.

An appreciable, albeit unhappily cynical attitude. The mention of spam really takes me back, though. Remember the Great Emoticon War of 2003? Good times.

This is fantastic news. I'll dump my savings into anything they put out, but especially for #6. #4 would be great too, if only because D&D-style Paladins are the bane of my existence and I'd like to be able to show people the real deal. I would die to have #3 on my shelf. #7 sounds great, but I don't think the pay-for thing is a very good idea.

Yeah, I always play my paladins as Neutral Good, I don't care what the D&D book says. I imagine the Gloriana paladin will be NG, more to our liking. I wonder if the paladin will be a prestige class though as one has to work towards it.

As for the school, I gather from the message that the payed for stuff are for extras. Though, he's still has to decide if there will be payed anything at all.

I'll let you guys know if anything else comes unless someone else gets the news before me.

I don't get #5. Why remake QFG1 AGAIN?

If it was my first game I ever published, I'd have a special attachment to it as well. But with that said, maybe we wants to redo the series for a new generation (and so we don't have to use dosbox).

Oddly enough, I consider the 5th Day bug from QfG4 to be one of the biggest obstacles to modern players.

"Oh btw, when you get to the fourth game, tell me. There's a bugged puzzle that you literally have to know about before you start playing."

I went through QFG4 just fine. Just finished it not even a full week ago. I can't recall anything special that happened on day five that bugged up my game. But I can see how people could miss the domovoi and Anna.

I played as a paladin (of course), so I would have missed any thief puzzle. OHH! There was the puzzle inside the crypt. THAT one stumped me. I do admit to having to look online to figure out what to do.

If you don't rehydrate the monastary Domovoi, meet the one in the inn, AND get Tanya's doll before Gypsy Davy gets captured, then you will never meet the inn Domovoi or get the doll. And you will likely continue to play the game forever without realizing you cannot trigger the endgame.

Maybe the Coles are going to add some cutscenes and subquests (like Goblins' Maze).

If anything, I'd love a remake of QFG3. While I enjoy the game, there's a lot that can be done to it to improve it.

Also, Bruder, those Emoticon War posts are still fun to look up biggrin.gif

Interesting news. Can't say I'm all that thrilled about a remake though. Oh, I'd still support it of course, it's bloody Quest for Glory after all, but... meh. I'd just really hate to see the movie industry's "remake everything!" virus spread to gaming.
