I think Veggie here is talking about the Rootin Tootin Root Beer, that makes you able to cheat in various ways. But I guess you knew that...
"Fear holds us and binds us and keeps us from growing... It kills a small piece of us each day. It holds us to what we know and keeps us from what's possible, and it's our worst enemy. Fear doesn't announce itself; it's disguised, and it's subtle. It's choosing the safe course; most of us feel we have 'rational' reasons to avoid taking risks... The brave man is not the one without fear, but the one who does what he must despite being afraid. To succeed, you must be willing to risk total failure; you must learn this."

Ah, the "razzle dazzle". Cranking your skills up that way, you could go on fighting almost forever. That would take the fun out the game for me.

I was thinking Vegetable meant there was a cheat to recharge your stamina mid-fight.

Agreed, using cheats takes the fun out of the games. Well it does for me anyway. That applies for all other games as well, not just QFG.

Hey now...cheating can be fun in games, so long as you've beaten the game first honestly. Then going back and cheating to experience the game differently is quite entertaining. smile.gif

Well, I suppose if you've already beaten it without cheating, that is different. Not the same as using cheats to race through the game without having solved the puzzles and/or built up your skills without them first. I can see using them just to hack around afterwards.

Still, I'd much rather play without them. smile.gif

depends on the game, really... GTA games are really no fun without cheats (well...not as much fun), but other games should never have cheats...ever.

I guess you can cheat your first time playing the game, cause as long as you ahve fun then the game did serve its purpose... and who needs honor? Not I, said the Jonesy.
Gaily bedight, a gallant knight in sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long, singing a song, in search of El Dorado.
But he grew old, this knight so bold, and o'er his heart a shadow,
Fell as he found no spot of ground that looked like El Dorado.
And as his strength failed him at length, he met a pilgrim shadow.
'Shadow,' said he,' Where can it be, this land of El Dorado?'
'Over the mountains of the Moon, down the Valley of the Shadow.
Ride, boldly ride,' the shade replied,' if you seek for El Dorado.'

Pray dear sir how does a cheat make a game different...if you've honestly played it succesfuly once. You can play it again to improve your score, yes, even take help from hints or walkthroughs...but cheat Arrgh! Ugh!

Well, using cheats would allow you to have items/skills that you would normally not have. It changes the aspect of the game - allowing you to do things you could not do otherwise.

For an adventure game or adventure-rpg hybrid, the fun of the game is in the puzzles. They're solvable - it's not impossible to think your way through it. That's why I feel first-time players miss too much to truly enjoy it if they cheat.

I don't know why but this time the Maze game with Erasmus isn't ending...neither of us seem to be progressing and I do need the Dazzle Spell biggrin.gif

I have noticed it does take much longer for the game to progress in the EGA version. Sometimes you have an open path and the little magical thing just keeps dancing around in the same place for ages. Only thing to do is keep stalling Erasmus and move some ladders/bridges around. Eventually you should be able to make it through.
