I'm on day 11 and I keep coming across Saurus Rex(the red ones). I'm a magic user and I'm stuck in a fight with a Saurus Rex that I can't run from! He keeps catching me and I only have 5 HP left with no potions! Is there anything I can do to get out of it?

Probably not. The mosters you meet depend on your experience points. Basically you need to have health potions.

If your hero is decent, you can run away and escape to town, Erana's Peace, etc..

The ironic thing is I'm right by erana's peace, but I can't make it. Well, couldn't anyway. I devised a plan. Hit-and-run! I would go into battle, hit him, then run. Rinse and repeat and he's dead!

Ah, clever. smile.gif

Parser games are fairly easy to outsmart, as Orion also alluded to. smile.gif

As the wise Al Lowe once famously said- "Remember- save early, save often!"

I just carried a lot of potions. Those saurus rex were the only thing that came close to killing me in the EGA version. thumbs.gif

I always max my stats out right away. So the cheetaurs didn't bother me that much because it didn't take long for me to kill them. The Saurus Rex however is just nasty. It's probably my second favorite monster in the series. I only rate the weirdings of QFG5 as being harder. smile.gif

I goblined up my strength until I was reasonably proficient, and ensured my experience wasn't too high... so that I could, in a leisurely way, do some of the quests while also taking care to increase my stats daily. Thus by the time my experience reached the "meeting serious monsters" level, I was reasonably ready for them, and once I was able to kill them without also being meted out the death penalty, I used the monsters to increase my stats further.
...bruiseless breath / Frosts the sweet solemnity of star-embracing night,
Purpled, music loud as silence; Is this dreaming death?

Everytime you gain stats your experience increases. How did you do it?

The combat in the EGA version is much harder than the VGA. At least for me, Once your skill rises up to some degree you can beat just about any monster without having to block or dodge (unless it's the troll... they're tough little tikes!)

Till next time stay cool cool.gif

"A gun is a tool, Marian. No better, no worse than any other tool. An axe, a shovel, or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that." Shane, played by Alan Ladd, in the movie Shane (1953).

"Blaming a gun for an action of a criminal is like blaming a car for some accident made by an idiotic driver." Paladinlover.

I thought the trolls were easy. Then I ran into 5 in a row one night while trying to get to Erana's garden. I just barely made it. This game can be mean. rolleyes.gif
