1. The screen is not large enough

2. Sound repeats

3. QFG4 does NOT run well with it.(errors)

4. freezes my computer.

I have a resonably fast PC, so it isn't because of that.

For SOD I would recommend that you try the new patch by New Rising Sun: QFG4 CD.

Fixes:
- Antwerp maze is no longer linked to the "Speed" slider setting
- "Error 47" at slime slope
- Ad Avis respawning after being killed
- Stamina use while crossing chasm hand-to-hand
- "Error 52" in swamp with "Chernovy"
- Wraith draining health
- Combat timing
- Missing mouse pointer when exporting character (endgame)
- Death screen animation
- Freezing in rm250 (Monastery with Igor) when using the Windows version
- Wisp animation

Make sure that you have completed the full install. Then unzip the patch into the QFG4 folder and your game should run fine. thumbs.gif

I have the DOS version. So would that patch work? It says QFG4 CD. Hence it would be for the CD version.

Uh.. the CD version has both DOS and Windows versions. What a weird thing to say!

I believe it works with both DOS and Windows versions of the CD.. and should work with the disk version too, though I doubt anyone's tested it yet.

I do have the disk version. Guess I'll be the first to try.

Ok, lets see....

1. If the screen is not large enough - hit Alt+Enter to switch to full screen mode smile.gif

2. If the sound keeps repeating that usually means that you re using less or more CPU speed - so try to play around with the CPU cycles till it plays normally smile.gif

3. If you keep getting errors it usually means that you re running the game on a too fast CPU speed and you need to slow it down (that should fix the sound problems as well - once you reach the proper CPU speed for the game)

4. I don't know about that - are you sure it's the computer itself that freezes and not the game? smile.gif If you hit the desktop refresh button on your keyboard does it switch back to windows or does it just stay freezed?

Try the above and let us know if they work for you bud smile.gif

I have aquired the correct CPU cycles for each game except QFG4. Frameskip doesn't help even at 10 its sound! I know a lot about computers and it is dosbox. I verified it since when you press ctrl+alt+del you get the task manager and dosbox is not responding. When I attempt to "end task" dosbox it freezes. It does not do that for anything else.

I can take it from here. I was just getting a second opinion from others.

Frames skip - I never use that, I just hold Ctrl+F12 to change the CPU cycles to do the trick smile.gif

I usually have it set somewhere around 6640 cycles, but then again I have an Athlon XP at 1.2 Ghz, so I don't know what you'd need to set it to for a faster computer.

The experts know better, but I'll add my mite wink.gif

I've been playing all QFG games 1 to 4 om MSDOS. I have a patch given to me by, I'm sure, Elsa, and I can send it to you if you e-mail your mailing address.

At critical situations eg the Mad Monk's Tomb I have to reduce the computer's speed down to 20%. I use 'Turbo'.

Good luck in your quests.

I never gave you any patch old man. I simply told you about DosBox.
