Full Version: Is it a Bug?

Susan
I've just turned baba into a frog and her house has flown away. Suddenly I'm transported to the castle, but then....nothing. It just shows everyone standing around me, the game doesnt finish, no one talks, its like its stuck, but its not because I can look at certain people, like the hidden designers that made the game, but thats all.
Almirena
Susan, this very problem came up in another site just recently - which is just as well, because I don't remember ever having the problem of having the game hang like that.

Apparently, you must not click onto any of the people - if you do, you run the risk of the game hanging. Instead, just wait without clicking, and eventually Yorick arrives, somersaulting or flipping into the castle hall, and the game ends properly.

You might need to go back to an earlier saved game - good luck!

Further information on this point:

You must let the mouse cursor remain still for some seconds. THEN the ceremony will begin, Yorick will enter, and the game will proceed to the end so that you can save your character for later importing.

Strange, that's never happened to me - oh well.

Actually, as far as I know it will never hang. It will, however, not continue on to the ending scene until you can stop making all those goofy people involved in making the game do strange things. It's not a bug, but simply the way the remake was designed.
Almirena
Goofy people doing strange things... the best description I've heard of that. <grin>

Susan try waiting for a while smile.gif

It happens to me everytime I play the game - the first time I finished it I was wondering what should I do?? Where do I click??? etc....

And at the end I realised it's all in the waiting for Yorick to show up lol.gif

That is something I really hate, but when you say don't click any where, what if you want to see who the people are? If you look at Corey Cole he is wearing the adventures suit from QFG1, then he turns into QFG2 costume. Along with other people, if you were only supposed to stay idle for 5 seconds then there wouldn't be any point having the character credits? Oh well, it's a nice ending... flying off on the magic carpet. wave2.gif

Wait for a while and don't do anything, yes, it will take a long time on some occasions, but when Yorick comes cartwheeling in, it's all over.

Till next time stay cool cool.gif

The idle time is around 45sec to a minute AFTER the last mouse click. If it takes more than 3 min, there's something seriously wrong, and you may need to restore your game and try again.

I've never suffered any crashing at this point.
Matthias
if I save it there and keep reloading, then it usually kicks right to Yorrick biggrin.gif

I never had this problem, and I clicked and looked at everyone. It just took a looooong time for the ceremony to begin, is all...

Patience, patience! This ending does take a long time to start and finish. The first time I thought that was the end and clicked off wondering "did I save for the next QFG?" Luckily that last save 'saved' me!! (You can click on all the odd-looking people, helps pass the time waiting for Yorick to come rolling in smile.gif )

PEACE!!!

Wow, for a thread started in 2003, we're still answering the question 6 years later! Amazing. scatter.gif Seriously, the only thing that holds Yorick is just the clicking on the audience. Those that aren't in-game characters are the people who worked on the game, as well as in-jokes related to them.

That's why I love Sierra and those old games, they didn't make you think they were bunch of dudes who simply made and marketed the game, but wanted you to feel just as much a part of the team and experience as possible. I figure this is one of the bigger reasons why Sierra managed to attract such a large and loyal following of players even to this day, while most other adventure games never could reach out like that.

Till next time stay cool cool.gif

Sierra and MPS to name two out of a few more were great and what they produced remain so evergreen smile.gif! It's a pity that, to name two, have had to sell out, and their production teams to disperse frown.gif!!

PEACE!!!

I also thought that was a bug when the ceremony took so long to begin.

Oh yeah, Sierra games were an integral part of my youth in the 1980s/90s...so good...I'm still playing them now!

Everone does think so, though rather prematurely <hehehe> ")! The first time I played it I had thought that that was the end of the game roflmao.gif !!
