I'm having some troubles installing most of the QFG series.
Whenever I try the setup for a Windows installation, I hear the sound of music, but the screen for the setup does not come up.
I also have trouble attempting to install QFG1-3 with the DOS installation; the only thing that seems to work is the QFG4 DOS installation.
Now, since I somehow cannot install QFG1-3 on my hard drive, I tried copying the files manually from the CD to my hard drive like QFG4. They work fine (except for sound and speed issues) when I run them directly, but, for example, when I attempt to run QFG2 from DOSBox, I get the messages "unable to change to: qg2" and "illegal command: sciv".
What is going on?

Ok first of all
In Windows XP the Dos installations fail even in DosBox so....
Try this:
Go to your Start menu and choose Run. Then select your Qfg cd and run the setup. Go through the various tests and even if you don't get any sound try to install the games Qfg 1 - 3 and choose Sound Blaster for sound devices

Then if you haven't done so install Qfg 4 Dos version by doing this:
Open your Windows Explorer (Start>Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer) then select your Qfg cd and run this file: QG4INST.EXE (or just plain QG4INST if known extentions are hidden). And go through the installation program to install Qfg4 Dos version

After that go here and read the instructions about downloading and installing DosBox and then try to run the games with it

In the meantime if you still get in trouble come back and let me know and we ll see what else we can do

"Go to your Start menu and choose Run. Then select your Qfg cd and run the setup."
Done that; I get a white box on the screen that reads "Initializing Setup" and hear the Sierra fanfare, but then the white box disappears and nothing else happens. There is a rectangle at the bottom of the screen that reads "Sierra On-Line Setup" or some such, but I cannot do anything with it.

Ok then try installing the other games the same way you did Qfg4

Browse the cd and find the game folders that the games you want to install are in

Normally should be.......
QG1NEW for Qfg1 Remake
QG1OLD for Qfg1 Original
QG2 for Qfg2
QG3E for Qfg3 normal english version
Inside each game folder you will find the install file to run

Okay... I think the installation for QFG2 worked fine; it's under c:\sierra\trial. However, when I attempt to run that on DOSBox, it says "Unable to change to: trial" and "Illegal command: sierra".
As for QFG1 and 3... I'm not sure what's wrong with the install files on them, but somehow they won't copy the files over to the C drive...

Hey, It seems I'm having the exact same problem...only when I try to run the setup, nothing happens at all, no fanfare, nothing. I have the qfg anthology CD, and when I try to install the games through their respective files while exploring the disk, I get an "access denied" message, and something else I can't read because the program automatically closes down, any suggestions?
I can explore the CD through dos box, but since I'm dos challenged, I can't really do anything...is there any way to install through dosbox off the CD?

I am having the same problem, however I came upon a solution here:
Adventure Forum and here:
Adventure Gamers Forum.
If any other people need help try those links.
If you have to, join the forum in the second one and email(or pm) FOV for her to send you the .sol file to fix this issue.
Hope this helps
