Hiyo Everyone!

I guess i'm the new guy to this forum for now...

Anyways, thought i'd post this if it helps anyone.
Had to tweak it about 5 or 6 times before i got a working combo that satisfied my gameplay lusts. Fairly simple, even for those with little comp knowledge.

Running:
-Pentium 4 2.66ghz Processor
-1.5gb DDR Memory
-FX5700 Nvidia 128mb Graphics card
-Windows XP Pro
-DosBox (cycle 7727 - processor = 94% peak)

Now! For those newbies just trying this and running into problems...
Short walkthrough for near-perfect results (for me anywayz):

-Run Dosbox
-Then crank your cycle up at high as possible by hitting ctrl+f12, while not overloading your processor. (Can check with task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and monitor processor % as you raise your cycle).
-(For me, my highest was 7727cycle and game runs super smooth and processor still below 95%)
-Then hit alt+enter to enter fullscreen mode.
-type in: mount c c:\ (c:\ being whichever drive letter your game is installed)
-type in: mount e e:\ -t cdrom (e:\ being your rom with the cd in it)
-finally, type in: c:\sierra\qganth\qg4cd.bat (or wherever you've installed your game, etc)

Game should start up and run smooth with perfect audio.
As i said took me a few times, so it might take some of you a couple times as well.

(Also may have noticed this was just for QFG4, havent tried on the rest of my anthology yet)
Hope this helps whoever is reading this in need of answers...

Anyways, im outta here for now, be back l8r. ^_^

Hi I'm new too

Hey Delta, I dl'ed dosbox the other day and tried it out - not bad.
I have two problems and maybe you (or someone else) could help me out.

1. You know in the beginning of each quest for glory how the characters strike a pose when you chose them? For some reason in the quest for glory 1 vga remake, each character type skips by their animation and just goes directly to the final pose and doesnt make the sound of the sword drawing, the magic casting, or the cloak swishing... any other sound in the game works great though. When I play the game without dosbox I get no sound but they go through each frame of the animation. My frameskip is set to 0 and my cpu cycles are around 1300 or so (usually the range of 1300-1500 works fine, I never really set it to max cpu). I don't have this problem with any other qfg. The thing that kills me though is that I think it worked perfectly when I first tried dosbox.

2. The game runs semi-choppy. It's not really a big issue.. its fine actually, but its probably cause I'm not bothering to set the cycling up high so that my cpu is working at 90% or whatnot right?

I'm thinking of just going back to VDM sound and using newrisingsuns patches... the game would run smoothly without timing problems and with the new VDM out it might even sound better (I couldn't get the last VDM to sound as good as the dosbox music/sounds).

Thanks

Yeah...could always go back to the other way if it was working fine. As elsa said, could check that link, but a parts of your problems may be the cycle count if its lower than 4000cycles, etc.

*shrug* ^_^

Wish I would have spent the time to find that link earlier Elsa, lol.
Took me a good hour of tinkering to navigate my way around, hehe.
