I am getting an "Unable to initialize your audio hardware." when trying to run qfg1 vga. Tried running on 2.8 GHz w/ WinXP Pro and on PI 100MGz w/ Win 95, in both win and DOS mode. Error only occures when I try to enable speech. Any suggestions? confused.gif

Just install download DosBox and install it to your Pentium 4 there and you will find the instructions for running it on the second page of the topic above biggrin.gif

Good Luck to you thumbs.gif

Thanks Elsa that helped, but I still have problems. I installed dosbox, mounted my installation drive and my cd-rom drive and now I no longer get initialization error, but I still don't have speech. All other sound works flawlesly. I am also getting some graphical distortion, small sliver of screen wraps around to other side.confused.gif

I have used -t to mount cd-rom as cdrom, and -label to match the cd label, still no luck. frown.gif

Have you checked the audio settings in your setup of the game itself?
Elsa Von Spielburg
Net you re not supposed to get any speech in Qfg1, 2 and 3 smile.gif Also you don't need to mount the cd-rom for these games either smile.gif

Now as far as the graphics problem goes...where do you get it? Or is it all over the game?

Did you switch to full screen mode? Make sure and click on the window where the game shows and If it's in a window you have to press Alt+Enter on your keyboard and it will make the switch smile.gif

There is a small sliver, about .25 inch of the left side of the screen beeing shown on the right side of screen. I set fullscreen to true in config to get full screen.

My bad about the speech, I could have sworn that QG1 VGA had speech in it. Just chalk it up to an overactive imagination and a bad memory.rolleyes.gif

Screen wrap also occures in window mode. It also happens with QG2.

Does anybody here get stuttering audio using dosbox? I am getting minor distortions like this for QFG1-3. Unfortunately, I lost my QFG4 disc (It's in my house SOMEWHERE, but unfortunately my QFG5 disc got shattered in an accident, so I'll have to go ebaying), so I don't yet know how this will effect me playing QFG4 talkie.

1-3 all run fine for me in DOSBox...

I adjusted the CPU rate on DOSbox from 2500 to 3500, and I'm not having so many sound problems anymore, so adjust that rate if any of you are having that problem.
