Having seen a gap in speed runs of the Quest for Glory series, I decided to add to the only one I felt strong enough in to complete quickly. Quest for Glory IV was easily my favorite of the series, and it's the one I feel I know inside and out. I have two ongoing runs so far, one for a new game and one using an import juggernaut of a character.

There doesn't seem to be too many people on Youtube looking for Quest for Glory videos, but I'd love some feed back or suggestions for the future ideas. I left annotations on each on my thoughts during the runs, but I'll be on here frequently until I'm satisfied I've exhausted this game. hehehe

WIZARD EXPERTS! I NEED SOME ADVICE!

My import speed run listed above is outdate. Please see my signature for the latest runs.

With that out of the way, I wanted to air my thoughts incase any of the 41 or so listeners thus far (which may include a few of myself) have opinions. These are the faults I've realized in NEW GAME CLASS SELECTION.

Fighter BIG faults:
1: I have to do the Leshy quest. When selecting magic from a new game, you don't get the Open or Trigger spell which allows you to go straight to Baba Yaga.
2: I have to kill the wraith which is not the easiest to do since he has no special attack like the thief and waiting to get the Aura spell is unrealistic for speed running.
3: Fighter starts with 0 Climbing, but gets 100 or so from the go from the book in the guild. For route, this is necessary at night to climb into town at night and into your room at the inn which takes a little time to build up.
4: Fighter starts with 250 Strength. The tombstone in the graveyard that Igor gets caught under requires 300 Strength to lift. Fastest way is the stepper in the guild, but it has to be done daily to get it to 300 by day 5 when Igor goes missing.

Thief faults:
1: I still have to do the Leshy quest for the same reason.
2: Still have to kill the wraith, but special attack can make this as fast as three seconds (that's a literal three seconds). There is also only ONE Chernovy guard in the swamp which is a bonus. Thief admittedly has the easiest and fastest fights.
3: Doors in the castle are locked. This is no problem in an import speed run because of the Open spell, but it means I HAVE to do the Thieves Guild which only takes two minutes, but adds TWO MINUTES at least. This reason alone may kill this as a run option.

Wizard trumps at first glace:
1: Leshy can be skipped because you have the Open spell.
2: Wraith can be skipped because the Faerie's have the ritual.
3: No puzzles require ONLY strength. Climbing can be substituted in all necessary Levitation.
4: No locked doors in the castle.
5: Using Open on chains in dungeon after being captured by Ad Avis eliminates walking glitch.
6: No need to go in the Adventure's Guild AT ALL.

I believe the Wizard can definitely fastest in the a new game. This is the complete opposite of my original inclination. Skipping the Wraith is a HUGE time-saver. Skipping the Leshy is HUGE.

Wizard is also the class I find myself the most ignorant about. It is VERY different from the other three classes, and thus has it's own unwinnable glitches.

Wizard Problems I Can See:
1: I believe you need Frostbite because of the Bone Ritual Cave in the endgame. That's not a huge deal, except meeting Katrina outside of town triggers a note that appears on the beginning of day 7 after saving Tanya. A glitch with this note erases Tanya from existance from the game. This wouldn't matter except that Ad Avis's note will never appear on day 8, making the game unwinnable. This would push the game until at least day 9, possibly killing this run as an option for fastest. If there is another way to get out of the bone cage other than Frostbite and Flame Dart, I would love to know.

2: You don't technically need to learn Ritual of Release from the Faeries, just learn about it from Magda. I've saved Tanya this way in my Wizard game. I believe this may make the game unwinnable though because one of the Faerie scenes involves learning the Ritual of Release. If you skip this scene, it may not trigger the third scene in which they attack. I ran into this in my attempt, as the Faeries don't want to show up. Any Wizard game experts, this is really where I need help at. Are there any day gaps that for triggering the Faerie scenes? Are there any events that trigger meeting the Faeries?

I would normally take the time to figure them out myself, but I find my time being eaten up more frequently by (understandably) by my wife, son and, of course, WORK. heheheh I'm a big kid at heart and enjoy this game as a hobby.
