When I run QfG2, or the original version of QfG1, I don't get any sound whatsoever! Any suggestions? I am one of those XP people. I will admit that I am technically deficient when it comes to certain topics, such as, say, sound drivers, or ANYTHING that has to do with what's inside my computer. But according to my control panel, my sound device is "Sigma Tel Audio" and my MIDI music playback device is "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth." The only thing I can think of is that I set it up wrong when I installed the games on this computer, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has an idea first. Thanks!

Have you set the compatibilty mode? If not try windows 95/98.

Yeah...I tried that. Maybe I'll just reinstall them. frown.gif Good thing I wasn't too far into them, anyway.

My suggestions is to use VDMS sound emulator, you can download it from here. http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/

I downloaded it and installed it on my computer, and whenever I ran any old games with it, the sound worked like a charm. However, I wasn't able to get the voice to work in QFG 4, I think there is a way to do it, but I don't know how.

Hope I helped.

That's great to hear. smile.gif It takes so much extra work to get QFG to run on XP. angryfire.gif

Bah! again! Does anyone know if there's a way to make it so QfG2 always runs with VDMS so I can just click on my shortcut on the Quick Launch bar, rather than me having to manually do it every time?

XP was not made by the devil.gif , XP is the devil.gif !!!!!

Thanks,

I'd like to know the answer to this question myself. As I will have to be setting up an XP machine for school in the near future. frown.gif
