I've just clocked QG4 YAY bounce.gif

anyway i'm writing to ask if thier is any point in me making a new game of Qg4 as a fighter .

I'm prepared to have a fighter with thief or mage skills (i.e pick locks or magic to be fair) basicly i'm asking is it going to be a carbon copy of my paladins run though quest for glory 4. Or Worser yet if its just like the paladin with less quests.

still i will ask if the fighter way if different enough from the paladin way to justifies playing as a fighter?

oh and its good to be back cool.gif

A Paladin can only be imported from a previous game, but yes you can choose to play it as a Fighter. It's the same with the other categories like a Wizard or a Rogue. You can also create a new game in any category - Fighter, Magic User or Thief and combine the skills, but then you don't bring (import) any skills or points from a previous game!

HAPPY QUESTING!!

PEACE!!!

Essentially, there really isn't much of a difference as a Fighter vs being a Paladin; there are only two plot points that you miss out on too, but I won't mention them due to them being spoilers. However, if you've played through already as a Paladin, I'm sure you know which I'm referring to. wink.gif

The one advantage Fighters get is that, at a later point in the game, they receive an axe as a weapon (the same time the Paladin recovers the Paladin sword), so the gain of a stronger weapon is equal in both regards. I've never actually played through a full game as a Fighter, so I don't know what other differences may be present in the game.

*shudders

don't remind me Mathias I'm still trying to get images of half dead(or rather mostly rotten) chicks out my head , that screen was scary though admittedly my first thought was that i had majority stuffed things up.

p.s Yeah I got a paladin in 4 from importing him but this time i clocked 4 it wasn't my quest for glory 3 paladin he was in my previous save data (which i had to delete becuase it didn't do the note thing)

so i played though quest for glory 3 and as said in my other note It didn't work so in the end i just imported my guy fro quest for glory 1 ( which interesting enough gives you a chance to change your class) normally i would consider this borderline cheating but since i actually did have a proper paladin in quest for glory 4 , who i might add the game bug meant that i could not play with him so i decided to import him from one.

anyway that was a little off topic . well i guess it just proves to me that paladin are like better fighter (though their is the honor aspect of course) especially since i would have died 10 times over without healing.

maybe fighters need more quest of their own , is it any better in dragon fire?

Fighters are encourage to seek out every monster type and kill them (as they are in every game). However, this can lead you some places that aren't essential to go to/you may never go to otherwise. For instance, I never find myself diving off-shore for any reason with any of the other characters, but as a Fighter, this helps you find some of the monsters you can kill to get points for.

Fighters also have a large array of weapons and weapon types to choose from (yes, every class can use them, but Fighters have the most strength and have that added 50 strength to their cap, so they can use the heaviest and best weapons): Axes, Swords, thrusting Spears, etc.

Also, if you prefer Katrina over Erana, while she won't marry a Thief or Paladin, Katrina will most definitely marry a Fighter. It seems that Fighters get a little more balance in QG5 than QG4.

Hope that helps smile.gif

thanks for you help

so let me get that straight thats a negative for playing q4 with a fighter? ( presuming I've all ready clocked it with a fighter)

p.s i prefer Erana to Katrina so i might just stick with my paladin and see if i can buy a copy of quest for glory 5
Erpy
I suppose it is. Personally, though, I tend to play through the series four times instead of three and one of the times I play through as a rough-n-tough fighter instead of a goody-two-shoes pally. If you only wish to play through the game to see the unique bits, rather than play through with a different mindset, the only unique stuff a pure fighter has is the ability to enter the castle through use of force and discuss the subject with Boris afterwards to hear his thoughts. That and the battle axe you get from one of the wraith barrows. (which magically transforms into an ordinary sword upon arriving in Silmaria)

Grand Dad
Matthias dear friend aren't you mixing up SoD with DF since our OgtheOgre is talking about QFG4? jestera.gif

I don't think he is, since Ogtheogre asked specifically how things were handled in Dragonfire.

OgtheOgre
yeah i asked mathias if it was better in dragon fire.

mood of the fighter eh, for me its more of a choice between a honorable brute and a not so honorable (but still a hero) brute.
still to be fair i couldn't imagine beating 4 with a fighter , cuase the amount of times i've saved my life with heal is quite large.

i don't believe i've seen you around Erpy , I'm OgtheOgre but just call me Og since "theOgre" is what i am rather than my name smile.gif.

really i had vainly hoped that it would be like quest for glory 1 in that respect (you know how in quest for glory 1 you can just change you skills and you can get a unique game play) i was hoping to get a fighter with magic but if i don't get any mage battles and such then thier isn't much point (though i imagine you can do puzzles in different ways right?)

Like my self Erpy is an old timer who just lurks around the various boards.
