I just downloaded QFG IV and I was stoked to fire it up and play, but when I get past creating my character, I don't hear any voices! I've tried using DOSBox and VDMsound but nothing seems to help. When I click on the Sierra setup, I check my sound capabilities and I hear a voice telling me that I can run the proper WAV. files but when I start the game, there are only silent text boxes. Can you help me out?

I have Windows XP and I have a 1.60 Ghz Dell Latitude laptop. I just really want to hear dialogue cause I remember the accents being one of the reasons that I loved this game so much.

1st of all, I'm guessing you downloaded a nonlegal copy of the game. So you should expect to have problems. I'd advice trying to find a legal copy from ebay or somewhere similar. More than likely you downloaded the cd version and you thus you are missing the cd audio files. Tough luck.

You need to have the cd in the drive you installed the game from to hear the voices.

You hear them only on the CD version...I have floppy one and no voices, just music. Then as Darian says if you have a CD then it's probably not legal?

<sigh> Did you not check the rules and guidelines before posting here? We cannot and will not help if you've DOWNLOADED a copy of this game, as there is no legal way of doing that. In other words, you have just told us you don't have a legal copy of this game. With VUG just having released KQ, PQ, LSL and SQ in a new collection, we do hope to see the QfG series released as well, and in the meantime, there are s/h copies around.

Get hold of the game through eBay, etc., and we'll be happy to help with whatever steps are necessary to get the game working at optimum level.
