I've been repairing my computer from some "problems" of late. Anyway I decided to use a program that was recommended to me, Spybot - SD. I didn't find any Adware my computer as my McAfee Anti Virus and Quick Clean take care of that. But I did find a lot of old and no longer needed internet add-ons, parts of spyware, and some vulnerabilites. So I'm recommending this program to everyone.

I am also using something similar. I see no reason to let outsiders know anything about my internet business. <nod>
Thanks for the recommendation, PW.

Yeah, all I had were tracking programs. I like this program because it isn't very dangerous to my programs. And it deletes cookies, temp internet files, and empties cache. It even repairs program links and registrey keys.

It even removed the time counter from my freeware version of winzip 8.1 .

It also has a built in "immunize" function which blcoks known spyware products from ever entering, make sure you run that. If you use mozilla though you shouldn't have to worry about 95% of spyware, since Mozilla doesn't use ActiveX which most spyware programs use. It's a great utility and I'd advise all people to have it, imo spyware is more of a threat than viruses, as they are a lot more common.

Spybot - SD also repairs regestry entries, cleans all cookies, empties temp. internet files, and it cleans all usage trackers including windows.
It's just a great program all the way around.

Hmm. Yep, Spybot sure is good, but I was wondering about Ad-Aware... how good is that? I'm tossing up between them... which one is better?

I'll put it this way from past experiences I had adaware for a month or so before I got Spybot and was running it on a consistent basis, yet when I got Spybot and ran it I found a good portion of stuff adaware had overlooked... I feel that Spybot is definitely the better program, but I keep them both around and use them both because every so often ad-aware will catch one that Spybot missed.
