So I recently finished QfG2 a few weeks ago. I first played it years ago when I got the collection cd but was stuck on how to defeat the air elemental. Little did I know the bellows was actually the REAL bellows, not just a painted sign. tongue.gif The only way I found out was by defeating Issur at arm wrestling.

But I have a few questions and thoughts:

During night time in Shapier, I was throwing rocks outside the Katta Tail Inn to up my throwing. You know how your cursor turns into a little bull's eye when you throw something? Well, here a guard comes up and warned me not to practice magic. I played as a PURE thief with absolutely no magic skills. I think it's a bug where if your cursor looks like a little bull's eye, it takes it as you're practicing magic. I've never played QfG2 as a mage so I'm not sure with that one.

One thing I'm not sure if it's good or bad is the lack of monsters in the desert. I had to wait and wait for something to show up and most showed up at night. It stinks when you want to up your skills, but on the other hand it's enjoyable if you're going out in the desert and not getting attacked when you don't want to.

Oh, and I found a way to up my honor points. Before helping Julanar, hug her over and over and your honor points will go up. I got it up past 75 (which I think is the minimum to become a Paladin). I wasn't offered to become a Paladin, probably because I broke into the Metal Worker's house and stole the Silver Tea Service set. I think that might be a bug as well.

Omar! I had no clue he was the Sultan! What a great game. Now I want to play it over to see some things I missed since I didn't get the full score. biggrin.gif

Thieves who commit unlawful acts can't become paladins, no matter how honorable they are. It's not a bug, it's just common sense. Becoming paladin in the game involves more than just getting your points high enough, there's a whole list of dos and don'ts in another thread, iirc.

The best way to get into fights is to just walk between Julanar and the city gates, just stick to the walls. You'll be getting into more than your fair share of fights that way. Money will be no problem either. I always end up with more scorpion tails and ghoul claws than what I can sell.

To max your throwing skills just go to the desert and start throwing. To make sure you're not attacked while practising: get into a fight, kill your enemy and practise over it's dead corpse. Buahaha! It'll take about 3000-5000 throws to max it out, depending on your starting level. So, that's about 2 game days. Straight.

Magic is forbidden in the city, so at least don't get caught. That actually might be a bug, the game thinking you're throwing force bolts and such when you're throwing rocks. Never happened to me but I never did throw stuff in the city.

Yeah, I remember a list floating around here somewhere. I think it even came with the Readme file in the collection series.

What a pain! I grew tired of throwing.. well pressing the same keyboard keys so I alternated between throwing and picking locks. Another great thing - not getting caught when picking too many locks at one time. biggrin.gif

Oh, and in another thread somewhere I mentioned I didn't like the hero's hair. Well I do. Actually, I think it suits him well. Especially the close up shot of him and Ferrari having their pep talk. Definitely drool worthy. wink.gif

If he had dark hair... <grin>

Yes, this game is one of my favourites. It confirmed me in my love for QfG - great storyline, great villain, wonderful puzzles.

But I don't remember being told off by a Shapeiran guard... Then again, perhaps I didn't throw things in the city. Hmm.

The town's off limits for practising any skill and yes throwing and climbing are difficult here. You can throw much as you like in the desert but picking and throwing are tiresome biggrin.gif Typing commands is rather a 'job'.
Oh you can kill as many as you like. Just wander around, especially at night and get the gold off the Jackalmen thumbs.gif
Jules
Hah! The new maxed out skill for the hero: TYPING! tongue.gif
Maiandra
I just used F3. Saves on typing the same command over and over (if I remember correctly).

I liked the Hero's hair MUCH better in the first two games when it was curly. biggrin.gif

Congrats on finishing QFG2, Jules! Yay you! smile.gif

Hmm...I dunno. I didn't much care for the Hero's hair in the first two games. He looked like he had some sort of blonde afro or something. new_Eyecrazy.gif
Jules
DPX, don't deny it. We know you secretly dream you had a smashing 'do like the hero. tongue.gif

I suppose the curliness was supposed to indicate his baby-sweet youthfulness... and later on, as a "man", he eschewed curliness, right? He ruthlessly screamed at his hair each morning to scare it into straight obedience.

Yes F3 works fine for a single command but not if you have to give more than one then it's back to typing eg 'pick rocks' and 'throw rocks' that's irksome and tiring! biggrin.gif
Darian Kheynes
"Pick rocks" once, then just alternate between F3/Space and Enter/Return for a while. You can check your inventory from time to time to see how much you've got. After that just "throw rock" by using the same method as before. It is repetative and boring, but kinda realistic. You don't master anything in real life by not keeping at it. Muscle memory is the most effective kind.

Wow that's some philosophy Darian! Thanks for advising this old man!

Ah yes such memories. I learned to spell more from these & the KQ games than school. thumbs.gif
Grand Dad
Yeees PW you're right smile.gif I am trying learn a few American ones ha ha ha!
Maiandra
I used to pick up as many rocks as my Hero could hold, then throw them ALL. Boring, but it worked and made for the most efficient use of the F3/Enter combo. smile.gif Being the perfectionist I was, I always wanted his stats to be maxed by the end of the game (whenever possible). That made for a lot of tedium.
DeadPoolX
Like Maia, I'd spend hours upon hours maxing out the Hero's stats. Call me a "power gamer" or whatever else you want, but I never felt right unless my character had the "best" in all areas he could manage by the end of the game. tongue.gif
Grand Dad
Right both of you, tiring but the only way. And Maia I've also tried (as much as possible) to max all the skill I have, too. My grand-children call me crazy...today's generation lack patience biggrin.gif

I whole heartedly agree!

I say, give them all a Sierra game (preferably KQ6) before they have a chance to lay an eye or finger on a game controller. (Realizes it's a generalization) biggrin.gif
