New here, and nice to find a forum with people that still enjoy these games.


I recently found a copy of the CD version of Quest for Glory 4. I didn't even realize I had it. So I started playing the game and for some reason its been error free, minus the sliding and crashing when you try to get the banzi tree for the ooze. I'm pretty far into the game right now, and I'm in the inn talking to innkeepers wife. I stop talking and suddenly the game locks up. Like I can move the mouse around, select different actions but can't click. I went to click to reduce speed to see if that helps and theirs a lock icon on the speed so I can't adjust it. Never seen this before.

Any ideas? I've heard it sometimes does this if you talk to igor but moving the mouse to the top of the screen and down again fixes it.

I could start from the beginning but all the excretory substance I've had to do, and then if I get to that point again and it locks up....be right where i started.

Have you installed the NewRisingSun patch? Check the QfG4 forum here for details - I have stickied a topic on how to ensure you get the game running as smoothly as possible.

yeah I had installed that patch before the game without thinking. Was wondering why I was having 0 errors while I was playing. Is their a way to manually adjust the speed in a cfg file? I think if I can adjust it, it will be fine but it has the lock icon on it, in the game.

You can adjust the speed by playing within DosBox, where you can alter the cycles. DosBox is the ideal way in which to play the game - by playing within it and having the NewRisingSun patch applied, there should be no problems.
