I had this happen years ago, and I forgot all about it. When you really max out your char it happens for some reason. Resets itself in QFG V though.

And no, I didn't cheat it's just a good old fashioned Sierra bug.

Must be some kind of overflow error - I think something similar happened to me once.

In a way, you gotta love the bugs of that game. Actually, after completing SoD I felt like I had really accomplished something, because it was so hard to get the game work, and just getting through the final battle (because it kept on giving me various errors)... Gotta love it, bugs 'n all.

LOL! That's so true, I can't help but wonder though how mighty the hero is when he can't walk down a slime path without causing the game to crash

I have that same issue with the skill level of the Open spell when importing any character class into QFG4 except a pure Wizard. Not sure if it is character class related or not, but seems to be that way for me.
