Which is your favorite monster in this game and for what reason?

Mine is the Cheetaur. It's great to fight, it has a great reward. It can be used for so manything in fan fiction. It' an original QFG monster created by the Coles.

I've chosen Saurus Rex as my favourite. I always go for the tough ones. <grin>

The Troll, for two reasons.
1: He carrys a lot of cash.
2: In the VGA version, he's the only one that remains a challenge even after you max out your stats. Because there are times when your sword misses and you have to dodge/parry the attack from his big stone hammer.

I voted goblin. The way they just politely line up to be slaughtered is just perfect.

I've always been quite fond of the Goblins... Mostly because of the music that accompanies theim...

I liked the cheetaur. I'd think a mini-cheetaur would make a great pet.

Goblins. They're so easy to take down, you can fight dozens of them in one day and get bundles of cash easily, even as a low level warrior. Plus, the Goblin battle song, written by tokeloshe I think on the VUG boards, just tickled my funny bone.

Cheetaur!! I loooooovvee cats in any form, they just jump out of nowhere and surprise you, they're a fun challenge - can't really cast spells on them, they're too fast - and they're a really cool blueish color. Oh yeah, and the basis for the best-ever Erasmus joke. "What's the difference between a cheetaur and a comma? - A comma is a pause at the end of its clause, and a cheetaur has claws at the end of its paws." *giggles*

I'm getting tired of saying this. . .
Why doesn't anybody give cheetaurs their due as sapients? Everybody seems to assume they're just big dumb animals, but the facts are definitely against that. They're human-animal "taur" breeds, every other species of which is as intelligent as a human; often more so.
Try looking at the cheetaur's head in the guild; it says it right there.

Goblins, for most of the reasons already listed.

You are most welcome tokeloshe.
And I second the nomination for the re-posting of the Goblin battle song. That was a classic.
And Bob: Chill dude. It's not the end of the world. A lot of animals in RL are just recently being discovered to be a heck of a lot smarter than traditional thought dictates. (Like the octopus. Did you know that they play, and learn from certain scenarios just as easily as a dolphin or a human?) Cheetaurs will get their dues sooner or later man.
Paladin Wizard
Oct 15 2003, 03:31 AM

Yeah, and no one ever said that they weren't smart. I know they are, I've already put that in my Spielburg fic. (It will hopefully be ready to post near Christmas.) Besides everyone thinks they're cool so there's no reason to get hot headed.

Have a drink on me.

hihihiii, cheetaur is at the peak. my vote counts!

by the way, i never thought that cheetaur is a dumb, but not that bright too ... since they don't use weapons, only use their claw instead. but hey, who need artificial weapon if already have organic one, right? ;D
but still, i think sheema has better intelligence than a cheetaur. she talks

sure cheetaur is a tough opponent (rather than a monster), but then again, liontaur is more tough and civilized i think ... maybe liontaur and cheetaur have bloodrelated in race or species?

CHEETAUR IS THE BEST! <- in QfG1

I would not say that the cheetaurs were any less intellegent then any of the other races, merely of a different culture that maybe emphasises the use of ones natural strengths in the hunt, and on a solitary nomadic existance as apposed the the liontaurs prides.
Also, it may be that cheetaurs don't want to talk to the hero, after all every time they so much as ask for directions he clobbers them over the head with a sharp pointy object.

The big, bad Cheetaur is my pick. I don't understand the name (they're panthers, not cheetahs. Hell, a panther is a leopard anyway, might as well call them Panthtaurs or Leoptaurs, but I guess Cheetaur sounds better

, that and they're fast) or what they're even doing in good 'ol temperate Germanic-based Spielburg, but go figure.
And my theory as to why they never utter a word is that they want to eat you. How often do you talk to a steak just before you eat it? If you recall, I also remember Leopardmen being quite intelligent, but they don't say one word to you when they attack you and die

Hands down the goblin. You can toy with him and get your dodge and parry stats up in no time. In that respect, the saurus would be the same I suppose, but you can get a few silvers from the body at least.

They did say there were an endangered species... they didn't say that the antwerp outside the cave was the last of the species, so that makes sense.

Cheetaurs has my vote!

I love em, they look so cool! I actually fight them just to looks at em hehe!
Black panthers are one of my favorite wild cats so of course i'd vote for something that looks like one

The antwerps are funny though, they're my second favorites. One time I attacked it just to show a friend what happened then I accidently saved it so I spent a lot of time trying to beat the game by staying away from the center of the screen when in the forest so it wouldn't fall on me...but it wound up being impossible to do for long hehe.
