hi again..

it's been quite a time and i've been getting along well with the game so far..
i've already got the bone and the sense ritual (although that one was a little tricky 'cause my computer is too fast - had to type AVVOOOZZLLL or something like that to get it). i also could fight those chernovy things.. so the patches should work too.
i've been to the gypsies camp a thousand times and asked about erana's staff and the destiny spell as well. i've tried to solve the leshy's riddle too.. i've visited tanya and toby, but there's no sacrifice topic.. i've been south of erana's garden (one screen south, right?) every so often.. but there isn't a damn thing floating anywhere!!!

oh, by the way, i'm a wizard.. is there any spell i have to learn first? i've been to baba yaga and got the heart ritual as well. i didn't bother about the spell though.. because - and that's funny, too: i can't get the elderbury bush to give me any more berries either. to restore the gnomes sensahuma i knocked a branch off with force bolt and got it with the grap spell.. when i tried again, force bolt didn't seem to work any more! the bush shivers and looks at me.. but there's no more branches i can knock off. so i put the rubber chicken on the ground (finally) and the bush moved over and sat on it. i used hand on the spots of green with berries that remain behind (where the bush was before) and it says that i store them in my backpack. but when i look into it, nothing is there.. really weird, but i got the heart ritual with some grue goo.. so i didn't bother with it any further..

i would really be thankful to get some help with the floating staff.. !!

I think what you have to do is first give the doll to Tanya and Toby AFTER speaking with the Gypsies AND drinking from the fountain in front of Erana's Garden well before hand (this is at night). Then after returning the doll sometime after talking to the Gypsies about sacrifice, you should find a floating staff thing, where you get the "Ritual of Release" spell.

ahhhhhhhh i'm lost!!! i THINK i gave the doll to tanya before talking to the gypsies.. i visited tanya again but there was no change in the topics.. she only said i am her friend now.. then i've been to the place where the staff is supposed to float.. nothing! i've slept it over and visited the other night.. still not a single floating thing! am i stuck? do i have to start it all again??

help, anyone?

Is it at night?

Did you drink from the fountain at night well before hand?

Did you already talk to the Gypsies about Erana's Staff (perhaps several times if need be) AND give the Doll?

Well, it worked relatively fine for me back when I played it... I don't know what could be wrong with your game.

As D-Boy said, if you are a Wizard, a key part is to drink from the fountain and meet the Fairies.

Don't worry about the doll part - it's ok to give it to Tanya early. You have to get the Fairies to teach you the "Ritual of Release" spell. Once you have that, then go back to Tanya. Let us know if you're still stuck.

I'm betting that your problem is the very common one of not having looked in the Garden for a particular spell...

Try casting Trigger in the Garden, and see what happens. Good luck.

i've met the fairies very early in the game and drank from the fountain. i had a vision of the fairy queen. but after that, i've never seen the fairy fountain again. is that normal?
i've casted trigger in erana's garden as well quite long ago, on day 4 or something like that.
that's it. i've been to the gypsies again, the topics don't change, i can still ask about the destiny spell.. i can tell about katrina i think.. the cards don't tell anything new.. and when i sleep in erana's garden i have no dreams..

i suppose i have to start all over again?

oh, i forgot: it is at night.

Did you actually find the spell in the garden? That's the pivotal point. You literally can't move forward until you have that spell...

yeah i found the spell! i can't recall which one it was, though.. but i casted trigger in erana's garden again (just to make sure) and all i got was the message "the tulip has fulfilled her duty" or something like that..

do i have to use the spell from erana's garden on the place where the fairies are supposed to be?

The spell from Erana's is the Protection spell - you don't need to use it when you meet the fairies.

I don't think you need to start over, it just sounds like there is something you haven't done yet... and once you do that, it will let you advance in the game. I'm out of ideas right now, hopefully someone else can help.

I know you have to meet the fairies on two separate occasions - the second time they teach you the Ritual of Release. (Then you go back to see them later, but since you haven't freed Tanya, don't worry about that for now)

Not sure, but from your message sounds like you never gave Baba Yaga the pie? I'm not sure if that's a trigger in the game or not.

You can also give Baba Yaga garlic that you buy at the store in town to get the spell, but it's not a necessary spell, anyway. You do have to have the frostbite spell, however. It is absolutely necessary for the faer folk...I don't think there is any way to miss it, but just in case...

i actually gave baba yaga the pie, i just thought i had to give her a second one to get the ritual..
and i have the frostbite spell, katrina gave it to me.
as this game is event-driven i suppose there IS something i didn't do.. but what???

Well, it sounds like you have done pretty much everything you need to do. If you have met with the Fairies twice, and the second time they have told you to get the Staff for them, then you should be able to go back to Tanya and tell her about the Staff.

This is a long shot, and I'm not sure if this is an event that must take place - but have you burned the Monastery?

I know you have visted the gypsies. How many times have you had your fortune read?

You can wait to obtain most of the Rituals until after you have freed Tanya, so I don't think that's what would be holding you up.

so maybe that's it - i already have all of the rituals, except the ritual i should get from the fairy folk after i've fought them..

i've met the fairy folk once and drank from the fountain - but i can't met them again! there's no floating staff south of erana's garden!

oh - and i burned the monastery down

is there a minimum of times i have to met katrina? i got frost bite from her and visited her at the castle gates.. but she always told me the same, that i have to get more skilled to visit the castle and so on..

magda has read me my fortune three times. the only thing i get from her nowadays is that all the cards she turns up are black. and i don't have dreams or visions any more when i sleep in erana's garden at night.

Yeah, I think that's right... first time it's the fountain and you drink from it, second time it's the "fake" floating staff.

Sounds like you have done pretty much everything. One thing - if you go to the spell section where you can see all the spells you know how to cast, do you have the one called, "Ritual of Release"?

If you have it, then you should be able to go to Tanya and tell her about the Staff.

If you do not have it, then you need to meet the fairies in front of Erana's at night and try to grab the fake floating staff.

I have this problem as well. I never see the staff. I haven't got that flower yet, though, so that's probably what's causing it. However, I've got another problem as well. After the first time, Katrina never shows up again. Is she supposed to? I've checked the town and castle gates, nothing happens. I dunno if you need to find her more than once or not.

Have you tried sleeping at the inn? After a few days, you should get a note with some instructions on when and where to meet.

I don't think the note is a trigger in the game though, not until after you have freed Tanya.

Well, I patched it, that took care of the note problem, but after I got the protection spell, still no staff. Sigh. I'm gonna start over.

I just played through the first few days. I'll provide a quick list of things I did - doing these things I was able to go to the screen in front of Erana's, and see the glowing false Staff:

- Obtained the Hat from the Ghosts, visited Baba Yaga, gave her the pie.

- Let Gypsy Davy out of the jail cell, rescued Igor from the Grave

- Visited the Gypsy camp only one time - had fortune read only once

- Rescued the Domnovi from the Monastery, obtained the Doll, gave the Doll to Tanya


That's pretty much it. I didn't have to visit the Gypsy camp after giving Tanya the Doll. The Fairies did not show up until I gave Tanya the Doll - but as soon as I did, they showed up. So giving Tanya the Doll seems to be the trigger.
