Hey QFG fans:

Well, we did our best, but the bottom line is that LBP just wasn't into the book, and all the marketing in the world can't make her love a book she doesn't love. She was good enough to read it over labor day weekend instead of taking all four weeks, and she wrote me the following:

"Many thanks for sending BY THE BOOK along for my review.

While there's a lot to admire about your writing, I wasn't really taken by this particular story. I'm sure it's me, but I didn't feel as engaged as I would have to be in order to warrant a closer look. Certainly, opinions vary widely in this subjective business and I'm sure another reader will pounce on it.

I wish you the best in your search for suitable representation."

This does not mean necessarily that the book is bad. This just means that it's "not her thing," and she knows better than to try to sell a book that she isn't enchanted by. Her client list is heavy on romance, mystery, and women's fiction. Perhaps she just doesn't have an instinct or a love for somewhat male-oriented teen fantasy. So we just keep trying.

I think we should keep this thread going, though. If you posted in this thread, just go back and take LBP's name out of your letter, make it more general. Avoid "Dear Agent," just don't put in a direct address at all. I can keep putting a link to this in all of the cover letters I send out. Meanwhile, I'll see if there's a way I can get access to this thread and go through and edit the letters that people can't or won't edit themselves. And of course change the subject line.

Keep posting in this thread if you want to show your support. For those of you tuning in, we're trying to convince an agent to represent the QFG novel series and sell it to a publisher. So just post a simple, "Hi! Thanks for considering Lori and Mishell's book; I can't wait to buy it!" and you'll be helping us out a lot.

Thanks again for your help, and remember, the battle is not over yet! Did your Hero give up when he couldn't get that darn Spore Spitting Spirea seed on the first try? No! He threw that rock, climbed that cliffside, or cast that fetch spell over and over and over and over again! And when he finally got the seed, did it matter how many times he'd failed? No! Success is all that matters. And success we will have.

Please do not respond in this thread, which is ONLY for posts thanking future agents for considering BTB. If you want to discuss the process of publishing this book, post in the "Right to Know" thread under "Rants and Raves" instead.

As Mishell mentions, there IS indeed a huge fanbase for QfG - and the book written by Lori and Mishell has many people impatiently drumming their fingers in anticipation of its publication and its media splash. I'm very glad you've expressed interest in seeing more about the novel.

Why do we love QfG and the idea of a book set in that world? Because of its charm, its adventure/innocence, its central character who develops as he goes, its humour and cute wordplay... I suppose it's the whole world vision of someone who wasn't a hero to begin with, but whose exciting experiences lead him to find a heroism that was within him and simply needed to be discovered and applied.

With great pleasure,

Almirena

I came as soon as I heard since, like many others, the Quest for Glory series has meant a great deal to me. I don't know anyone who hasn't been drawn into the QfG world when they played it. It is such a unique world, with its own humour, characters and fantasy. And, unlike a lot of other stories, the hero is not someone with a lot of magical power (eg HP) or huge muscles, but at the start is just an ordinary person (who a lot of the time fulfills the description of "bumbling idiot"). But his desire to help people, to be a hero, allows him to do things others cannot.

When Lori and Mishell first went public about the book I was so excited, as were many others. The news quickly spread to the literally hundreds of forums and websites around dedicated to QfG and thousands joined in the excitement. The QfG following is absolutely huge, and everyone I know is eagerly awaiting these books. Take a quick look around the internet and you'll see the huge interest that still exists for even the first QfG game, even though it was made back in the 80s. The fact a game with such outdated graphics and sound still gains new players all the time shows just how great it must have been.

Lori and Mishell are really great writers and have an incredible fantasy world to work with. From what I have seen of their novel they definately have a potentially great series of books on their hands. I strongly recommend you pursue this opportunity. You definately would not regret it.

I can only agree with everything Thepal said. When I first heard of them writing a novel, I offered at once to help out with proofreading and similar. And from what I've seen from the novel, it's got awesome potential! smile.gif
My favorite pastime is reading (even more so than playing comp games.) I've loved QfG for years - and now being able to combine the pleasures of QfG with my favorite passtime is certainly something I look forward to very much.
QfG itself is a great world that certainly wasn't explored completely in the games - and those games are great and very addictive. And it's a great idea to continue this exploration in books where it may be possible to tell some things more in depth than in an adventure. In other words, those books will be well worth reading - even for someone who has never played QfG and maybe never will.

The first time I played "Quest for Glory" was fully 12 years ago, and even then I was captivated by its charm and the innocence of a person who, despite not having the prerequisites of heroism such as huge muscles or impressive magic, grew up to become a hero. The best part about the game, of course, was that it was my control over the hero's fate - it was up to me to say whether he would succeed or fail. I would also heartily enjoy and endorse the book (even though in the book I wouldn't quite have so much control). <grin> Over the years I followed the hero's adventures in four more games, and "Quest for Glory" stll holds a very special place in my heart. Perhaps one of the best lessons that "Quest for Glory" taught me was that I have control over my own destiny, something that I fervently believe in, and I believe that this book will bring that message to a lot of people: that no matter how powerless one might feel, one still can make a difference. smile.gif

I'm very glad you've expressed interest in the novel, and I hope that you will like it just as much as we did. smile.gif

Yours sincerely,

Whenever I look back to my days as a very young boy, I can rarely recall any good moments that happened to me, largely because I suffered greatly at the hands of less than 'good' people. But what moments I can recall are almost universally regarding classical Sierra games, it's very sad when my best friends during my childhood were nothing more than a bunch of pixaliated characters who don't really exist in real life. In any case, it would really mean quite a lot to me if the QFG novel(s) was made, more to me than most other fans at that. QFG was the most memorable game Sierra ever made, although they produced many fine adventure games, QFG had the largest potential to have the largest fan database, and the most flexible of all Sierra games for FanFiction. So it is with all humility that I request that you take advantage of this opportunity, you will not be sorry.

Till next time stay cool cool.gif

A novel set in the QFG world would be a bright addition to what is already out there. The quest for Glory fan base is quite large and a novel would be well recieved and enjoyed by all. There can never be too much Quest for Glory!

So much has already been said here, that I'm finding myself at a loss. The Quest for Glory world IS a world to many of us, a world whose people and whose very nature has drawn us back to it time and time again. Its fan base is worldwide and is still growing despite the fact that the games themselves are no longer being produced. Of course, the fact that most of these fans have real-world responsibilities and such sometimes means that getting them to post within a deadline of only a few days is sometimes difficult. But we ARE all here. The prospect of this book is something we've all been looking forward to with great anticipation.

Arg. I don't know how well I'm saying all this. Thank you very much considering this book. It would mean a great deal to many of us to see it published. smile.gif

The ”Quest for Glory” series holds a special place in my heart. I have played many games, and been a part of many communities, but I always return to ”Quest for Glory” in the end. The game has a large breathing community of caring and truly inspiring people, who since the end of ”Quest for Glory 5: Dragon fire” have been trying, both though numerous fan projects and petitions, to get another chance to experience the wonderful world that Corey and Lori Cole created.

These people have continued to be faithful to a game series that stopped being produced years ago, and they still want more. There is no doubt in my mind that the greater majority of these people, if given the opportunity of buying a book that Lori has helped co-write together with Mishell Barker and set in a world we so dearly love, will buy it as soon as it hit stores.

I am certain that I will.

There have been few computer games I have followed with the same loyalty and delight with which I followed, played, and replayed the "Quest for Glory" series. The key to the games' success in my mind was the wonderful and inventive imagination of their design in story and character. Certainly, the puzzles were fun, but what drove the games was my complete dedication to seeing to and caring for the needs of the many characters who roamed the streets and byways of Glorianna.

This power to capitvate through character development and storyline drew me into each and every game. As you know, Lori Cole was the driving force behind the games' development. Her inspiration and story writing gave the series its unique power to capture the imagination and hold me to my computer chair for hours on end.

I am certain that same flair will drive the novel she has been working on based on "Quest for Glory." Please consider her manuscript for publication so I may again share in the wonders she envisions.

I am a high school English teacher who writes a bit herself, and is ever ready to buy and read the good fiction, especially fantasy novels. merlin.gif

Quest For Glory is, in my opinion and in many other fans opinion's as well, the greatest RPG ever made. It has everything a good story needs. Heroes, Villains, excellent stories, intriguing side quests, exciting and challenging fights, and bad puns! A novel would add to the greatness that is QFG, and it would make all us fans happy. Especially since there won’t be anymore games, unless we can convince Sierra to start them up again. Novels would be a great way to continue the story, or to make a new story in the QFG backdrop. Thank you very much for considering us, and I hope you will publish the book.

Long Live Devon Aidendale and the whole Family!

I was overjoyed when I first heard about the possibility of a Quest for Glory novel. I have been playing QFG since I was twelve and that has been ten years now. Every once in a while I get nostalgic and will reinstall the game just for another dose of the amazing world that the Coles created.

A QFG novel would be a wonderful return to this world, and I believe would be extremely successful. There is a large fan base that agrees with me. I hope that you can seriously consider your support of this book.

I can't thank you enough for taking a strong interest in this new book. I can assure you that it will sell well considering the large Quest for Glory fan base I've seen over the years. I hope you enjoy reading it, and I'm sure the rest of us will, too. wink.gif

The story of the "Quest for Glory" game is an inspiring one. It is one of potential, where a person’s future success is not a foregone conclusion at birth. It takes place in a world of magic and fantasy, but it is the human qualities of inner strength and intelligence that are most valued. The message within the games is clear: it is the heart that makes the champion.

The story behind the “Quest for Glory” book is just as inspiring. Two women, of different ages, backgrounds, and experience, have come together out of a shared passion. Both possessing the belief that the lessons taught in the original games deserved to be shared again, with the fans of the past and a new generation of young people.

Reading what people have said here, it should be clear the impact Lori Cole has had on those who encountered her games at an impressionable age. She is revered by them, and rightly so. I have had the privilege to know Mishell Baker’s work as well. She has a singular talent for the written word, truly expressive and compelling. And she possesses an unmatched level of enthusiasm and drive for what she believes in. Due, in no small part, to her exposure to Ms. Cole’s games.

The theme of the game, and the guiding principle behind Ms. Cole’s and Ms. Baker’s lives, is that heroism is innate in everyone. All that is required is the passion to bring it out. Now they need someone who believes the same thing. Someone else who recognizes the truths in their work, and the impact it could have on countless young readers. I do very much hope that the person is you. That you can be their hero, and mine.

Hi,

Quest for Glory is one of the best games out there, and it's made quite a huge difference in my life. It's brought a wonderful group of people together that have managed to do awesome things together. I would most definitely buy a copy of this novel, and I think many other fans would, as well.

The Quest for Glory series has been popular simply because of its story, which is saying a lot for a computer game. There isn't much time to develop characters or plotlines, but QFG was able to do much of that in its limited forum. This is a storyline begging to be allowed to explore itself and develop further in the pages of a book.

A Quest for Glory book? Wow, that'd be some cool stuff! merlin.gif

I joined the ranks of Quest for Glory fans In 1999 shortly after Sierra FX/Yosimite studios was disbanded. I played the games over and over and was always excited by the thought-provoking storyline and the subtle yet brilliant humor. I will always place this epic before any other in my mind, and I thank you very much for taking notice of us. The future does seem bright, so let us go forth to greet it.

Quest For Glory is the series of games that has sustained my interest in video games, as well as other areas of interest. Thanks largely due to these games, I tend to think of myself as a witty, intelligent, logical person with a pretty good sense of humor. If this book were to be published, we'd experience a renaissance of books based on games.

Thanks to Lori and Mishelle for this project, and thank you for considering it.

Wow!!! A whole book about Quest for Glory! That's amazing! I would definately buy it, even if I have to order it from overseas! What a great concept! These games are important computer entertainment history, and it would be such a treat to learn the details of their creation. Here in Sweden, classic Sierra games are huge, years after their heyday. I really hope this book gets printed!

Well, it's about time! We've been waiting for a Quest for Glory novel for years, ever since the games were first released. Quest for Glory has meant a lot for me... not in just the games, either. The communities I've become a part of that were dedicated to QFG have taught me a lot - I absolutely wouldn't have been the same person if not for the game. This is a great opportunity for a far wider audience to get a gander at what this is all about.

I have yet to read any of the book, but judging from Lori's games and Mishell's posts, it would be inconceivable to me if this book were not fantastic. Good luck.

Although I never really played the Quest for Glory games myself, I used to watch my friends play it on their PC back when I was a youngin'.
Now, looking back on that, I can see myself reading a QFG book, since the games always seemed rich on the story. And it certainly didn't lack in compelling locales. In other words, publish a QFG book and I will most definately buy it! And I could see it hitting big with the Harry Potter fans too, given the right marketing.
tokeloshe
QFG always appealed to me for its truly great story and humour, thus a book being set in Glorianna strikes me as the most natural result. It will likely be truly excellent, much like the games were, and a brilliant addition to my favorite books collection.

I just hope it comes out soon...

I can honestly say that you have no idea what you are getting into in reading this manuscript. Well, I suppose you can NOW, seeing as you've probably read the other reccomendations before this one...Nonetheless, I cannot help but restate the fact that there is no tale like the one the Coles told through the medium of computer games.

Quest for Glory is a series I've loved for years, a series I know for a fact I'll come back to, and the reason I hold on to my long-outdated computer. It has everything I want in a story--adventure, mystery, romance, magic, drama, action, humor--and I'll confess right now that I put the quirky humor found in QfG on par with that of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams, easily.

It may also be interesting to note the dedication of the QfG fanbase, on and off-line. I can hardly hope that all the fans I've met will be able to attest to this before the manuscript is sent, but I can only assure you that the QfG-ites I know are some of the most open, witty, dedicated, and wonderful people you could meet on a message board or in a chat.

I for one would love to see this book in print, to finally hold another piece of QfG genius in my hand again. Thank you again and to quote the games themselves, 'May the winds blow fair at your back'.

Hayo there,

I'd like to thank you for considering bringing this QFG novel to the public. I've been a fan of the games for ages, and am very excited at the prospect that the franchise might live on with this novelization. Thanks, I look forward to buying and reading if you go through with publishing it.

Greetings.

You do us all a great nobility in even considering this terrific story of the triumph of human nature over heart-crushing odds. You should be commended with high honors for such a gift you do unto us as this.

I am nearing 16 years old, so I have just barely been alive as long as these games. I have been around them all my life, and they have sculpted me and moulded me into what I am today. I am respectable to those who know me, quiet, and polite in a general sense.

These games helped me learn to read at an early age, and have contributed greatly to my understanding of a greater vocabulary. I remember watching my father and uncle play on my grandfather's computer one christmas, the very first adventure, some years after it's original release.

I remember, I would 'play' it too. I would sit on one of their laps, and tell them what to type. 'Look under the rug'. 'Throw a rock'. And so on.

I must say that my family, that is, my immediate family, greatly percieves the games. My father, of course, introduced us all to them, after he played the first game at his best friend's house. I was the second one to play, then, and my mother joined in after we bought the Collection cd, starting on the fourth adventure of our intrepid, taciturn hero. My uncle's family, as well, has greatly loved the series, too, and his oldest son, now seven, is learning to read using Quest for Glory as a stepping stone! And very recently, too, another cousin of mine, only three weeks older than myself, has taken a shine to the games.

They are a valued asset to many people, and have given these people very respectable traits. The world of Quest for Glory, in our real world, that is, is vast as it is in the story, and people the world over enjoy these games as a favorable passtime.

I personally would make sure to get a copy for myself at the very least, as well as tell everyone around how good the story is. With proper marketing, the story would definately be a bestseller, no doubt. The Coles have seen to it that verily any person can relate to the world in some way or another.

You have no doubt, of course, read through the story, and so you can see for yourself that it is without a doubt intriguing in many ways. I hope you can see it in your heart to help the beauty of this dove loose into the world, to soar gracefully into young persons' imaginations, worlds of creativity, and bring the epic story to everyone, world-wide, in form that almost all of us can relate to-- Form of book.

My name is Keven Kelly, age 15, and I would like ot say that I know ten people, personally, who would buy the book, as well as another thirty whom would also buy it, if they were told about it. I cannot wait to allow the words of talented authors Ms. Baker and Mrs. Cole into my world, and once again enjoy the world of Glorianna's tales.
Tallin
I have played computer games beyond count (well, I probably could sit down and count them, but not only would it take a while, and I'd most likely forget some, anyway). By far the majority of these were in the Adventure or RPG genres. None, however, touched me like the QfG series of games, created by Lori Ann and Corey Cole. I have read fantasy series beyond number (once again, these do have a number...it's just very, very high), and these games have always been on par with even the best of them. I replayed them countless times (yes, I'm quite sure on this one...there is absolutely no way I could count the number of times I played Quest for Glory). In the end though, I always wanted more. More of these wonderful stories, which at points have almost had me in tears.

I even went so far as to write my own pale attempt, in order to explore this world a little more. I looked for any fanfiction where the author looked reasonably talented (which really wasn't that hard, the Quest for Glory fanbase has some of the most talented people I've ever come across) and read them to the point where, most often, the author had stopped writing, or at least taken a break (and a very extended break, in most cases).

Never, though, had I actually thought to see anything again from Lori Ann herself. I was overjoyed when I heard the news. I can honestly say that I would buy this book, read it, and wait impatiently for further offerings. I can say this knowing the dedication Lori Ann Cole has shown in creating beautiful stories in the past, and from what I have seen on this board of Mishell Baker's own dedication. There is no way just one book can sate me, however. I will be eagerly awaiting each book that can bring to me the magic of these glorious tales.

Ever Hopeful,

Thank you so much for considering Lori and Mishell's novel. I have played Quest for Glory numerous times, and I honestly can't wait to get my hands on the novel. I loved every game in the Quest for Glory series. The storylines were fantastic, the jokes were hilarious and the characters were memorable. The Quest for Glory series will always remain one of my favourites to date. It would be a dream come true to finally be able to read the novel. merlin.gif

Hi!

I am definitely looking forward to reading the book, as I really enjoyed playing the games. I'm also very sure that some of my friends who have not played Quest for Glory will also be excited about the book, as I've tested the website design on them and they ALL want to know more!

I first played Quest for Glory in 1994, when I found it in a bargain bin at a computer store. It was probably one of the best games I had played to that date. Even now, that game is still one of my all time favorites. And although I probably have nowhere near the fanaticism for the game that some of the people here have, I definitely would get and read a book based on the series by the original creator. It was that much fun smile.gif

First of all I would like to thank you for considering the novel written on the QfG series.

For any of QfG fans, to see a QfG book would be the best present we could imagine in years!

I felt involed into the atmosphere of the QfG from the very first screen, from the very moment of the Hero stepping through the town gates of Spielburg. I've been living in Gloriana since November 6, 1999.

The wonderful combination of adventuring, humor, music, puzzles and battles makes QfG a really unique game. Each game of the series has its own atmosphere and its own colors so to speak, but they all fit each other perfectly, making together a great story.

The desire to find other QfG people was the main reason for me to get the Internet access, and I'm very happy I found them smile.gif

I would really anticipate the appearance of the book in the shops, though have strong suspicions it would take quite long for it to reach Russia.

Thank you again and hope to see the book published

Hello,

Quest for Glory is much more than a video game - it is an interactive story that has inspired a legion of fans and many a fan-fiction. Part of the series' appeal is the open-ended nature. Since an entire world of Gloriana "exists" to be explored, there is the potential for countless stories to be told in that familiar and charming setting. I look forward to reading novels based in this world. Thank you for considering such a novel, and be assured that I and many other fans are ready to rush to the nearest bookstore for another tale from our favorite land.

Hello,

thumbs.gif
The "Quest for Glory" series has enhanced the real-life characters of many people worldwide because what they have been trying to emulate since the inception of the game series, is so wonderful and so worthwhile: becoming a true hero.
To become a true hero is never easy. But in order to achieve progress in life, all of us have to become heroes. Humans like progress, real progress, and it is only fitting that stories such as the Coles' one gets promoted to inspire even more people.

Personally, I have been a bit suprised by heart-warming stories about "Quest for Glory" and how it enriched people's lives. Only now did I realize that subconsciously, I've been striving to lead a hero's live in a large part thanks to "Quest for Glory". It has taught me to:

--not agree with and support people of low moral character in their activities
--be perfectly logical and never rely on emotions, but also be very warm and emotional whenever possible
--exercise my imagination and apply it to real life problems on a daily basis, discovering ideas which are impossible to discover without such practice, and finding solutions that are impossible to find otherwise.
--do away with negative thoughts and a lifestyle that is accepted and even approved by most people but which leads to decadence
--be polite and kind to any man -- be him/she the most poor and the most unfortunate in life
--always trying to help people by telling them the right word and pointing them in the right direction
--not judge people in the sense of condemning them, but to practice loving discernment
--seach for information that is lost, forgotten or suppressed, but which has great, presently unrecognized value
--never rely on third parties as the sole source of information; always checking things myself firsthand
--try to make sense of illogical events and eventually find logic in them thanks to perseverance and gradually starting to see the higher order and picture of things
--be brave in what I do
--trying to find and meet unusual people worldwide, which have great ideas and abilities which are unrecognized at large, but which hold great benefit when implemented in one's own life and followed consistently

Following the above is hard. But it is not unbearable. It becomes easier the more I try to follow it. And the benefit is worth it. Eventually, life becomes easier and happier.

If you, as a publisher, do not give a chance to the publication of this first book, do you think that you'd find, right now, anything better to publish? I have not read the manuscript, but as it most likely comes from the same type of well-inspired people whose life was and still is positively influenced by the game series, I am sure you cannot go wrong at this point if you choose to give the book a go.

The richer-than-average stories of "Quest for Glory" are indeed uncommon for computer games and a book would be a wonderful accompaniment and a logical next step for the development of the story. Perhaps one day the book can be turned into a computer game, too, teaching people from the youngest generation the same great values that appealed to people from our generation and same great values that have appealed to people since time immemorial and are going to appeal to people in the future.

Should you have any more questions regarding "Quest for Glory" and its positive influence on my life, I can be contacted at vesselinpeev@hotmail.com if ever the needs arises. I also very much want to get personal e-mail from the other participants on this forum, if they ever need to discuss the impact games or books of worth have on people, transforming them into fuller and better human beings.

So get the book out!

Thank you.

-Vesselin Peev (Vesko)

P.S.
I am from Bulgaria, a country in Europe. I have played all the games in the series. I have many friends which have played the series and cherish it in their hearts. They will be sure to get the book, too.

I have to agree with what all the others have said. Quest for Glory was a powerful wave in its time, and it still lives on in so many's hearts, people just won't let it go, and we would all love to see it spread throughout the populace with the same intensity as the Harry Potter books.

The games themselves inspired me to start writing... that is, when I grew too old to run around with my "magical staff" and toy swords fighting invisible dragons and evil wizards.

I'm only 14 now and I must have been sucked into Quest for Glory more than four years ago. I can only say this would be a great investment. I'd love to see kids everywhere carrying around the latest Quest for Glory novel, talking excitedly over characters and events I know so well.

In short, I think the books will sell. I'd certainly buy every one of them. Most of my eleven syblings would be reading them too. All I can say is, join the cause! Help bring back to life what has been living only in our minds and hearts for so long!

Eternally grateful for just your interest,
Torin

To my taste, the Quest for Glory series is the best set of computer games ever. The combination of a great story and a world which allows you, with incredible freedom, to watch your character literally grow creates the best gaming experience I've ever had. I would love to see the novel based on this series.

Well, I am a big fan or QFG, and also of Children's fantasy as a genre- despite my somewhat "advanced" years jestera.gif , I still read and enjoy children's fantasy, from Dame E. nesbit to Harry Potter. It is with joy I saw I new team enter this market, and my privilege to help test read the "beta" vesion of the book. I was pleased and think it is a worthy addition to the genre.

The games themselves i remember fondly, as possibly the most fun & (dare I say it?) most actual "roleplaying" in that segment of the industry. They satnd alone (well, maybe with Monkey Island) as something beyond "kill the monster, get the treasure" games.

Where ever I go, at Worldcon, Baycon, etc- I find folks who remember the QFG series and have already forgotten their last "hack & slash" game.

This book has a ready made market in the many, many QFG fans out there- and their kids- and the millions of parents who don't know from children's fantasy, but their kid is done with Harry Potter and is wanting MORE! wave1.gif Few "first" books can claim that market share- unless they are maybe written by the wife of an ex-president, that is! merlin.gif

I just heard about this from Ken Williams' webpage. I think publishing a Quest for Glory novel would be great! I have loved the quest for glory series since I first played the first one. If you were to publish such a great game as a novel....you would get tons of people running out immediately to buy a copy. There are tons of fans, including myself, who would jump at the chance to read about the hero's adventures in novel form. It even gives the series an interesting turn.....if 5 books are released based on the games, that would mean that the series could continue into a whole new adventure! Perhaps with the hero's son.....or maybe a friend....the whole idea could spiral into a great line of literature based on the world of Quest for Glory! I have to say that I would definately get a copy of this book!

I've been a fan of QFG for seven years now. I love the games and from what I've read so far the books will be even better. I will definitely buy at least one copy of this book when it's released.

To Whom it May Concern,
As a long time fan of Quest for Glory I would be extremely interested in purchasing a copy of any proposed novelization. Additionally, I would be excited to see tie ins to such a series including but not limited to a related roleplaying game (potentially using the D20 license) and Action figures.

Thank you for your time,

Wow. What can I say that hasn't already been said?

I was introduced to Quest for Glory at a young age, and grew up with it an important thing in my life (sad, yes, many would classify me as an overenthusiastiv fanatic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing...). I've been an active person in the Quest for Glory fanbase for the past three years, so, as you can imagine, I was very excited when I first heard of this novel. The very fact that you've even expressed interest makes me optimistic. Such a novel, I'm sure, would be very successful, among both Quest for Glory fans, fans of general fantasy, and the general public alike.

First, thank you for considering publication of this novel.
By now, you've perhaps read peans to Quest for Glory here as well as excitement at the possibility of a book -- THIS book.
Considering how many of us have played the games...and then done so AGAIN because they more than merited it, being able to curl up with these adventures in print would be awesome!
Though comparisons many times are off-base, I think this would be similar to other successful 'genre jumps' (Tomb Raider, etc.) with one BIG exception: Lori Cole. An adventure novel by THE author of Quest for Glory, not someone else, can only make it better than others.

Greetings,

Like many people here, I have played the Quest for Glory games all my life... The rich world in which the games take place, the interesting, wonderful, and often comical characters and their well written dialogue, the wonderful and compelling storyline and plot, and many other great aspects of these games, as well as the noble goal of seeking heroism has always inspired me. A novel based on these games would be a dream come true.

Thank you for your time,

A book!! OMG, that would be fantastic. Imagine being able to continue the adventure by picking up a book. I have played all the Quest for Glory games and I have loved them, I even replay them again today. The story was always interesting and had some funny moments. I would love to see a book.

I've been a fan of Quest for Glory most of my life, in fact, since I was four years old back in 1989, and the original game came out. I've remained faithful to the Coles to this day. The rich storyline, interesting characters, and many... many worlds adds for interesting conversations and hours of gameplay.

Many fans have started to write their own "FanFictions" based on the games, and I know that many people are eagerly anticipating a novel to be released with the Quest for Glory title behind it's name.

Quest for Glory was one of the first games I played on my PC (called Hero's Quest at that time). And I still think of it as my favorite game, even after played a lot of games during the last years. I'm sure the book will be good, and I would like to read it sometime.

Thanks..

I too must voice my support for the prospect of a QFG novel. The game consumed many long hours of my time - only the Ultima series garnered more attention - and I would certainly be interested in any novelization of the series.

I think that the games (and therefore, I hope, the novels) were equally approachable by the young and old; the storylines were mature enough to be interesting to cynical older folks like me, but they also treated the material in a gentle fashion that allowed children to enjoy them too.

Of course, there was also something special in the way that the serious storylines that the games held were punctuated by wit and humor; few such games are willing to have fun at their own expense.

I am sooo excited about the prospect of a Quest for Glory book. I'm so thrilled that my non-gaming playing friends will finally have a chance to enjoy the characters and Quest for Glory world with this new medium. I plan to buy several copies and send them to all my friends so that they can be as hooked as I am.

Thanks to Lori & Mishell for taking on this project. I wish them the best of luck! Woo hoo! *keeping her fingers crossed that there will be a book on the shelf in time for Christmas*

Best regards,

When we fans first heard about Lori-Ann and Mishell's project, it was a dream come true. It is absolutely wonderful and exciting to learn that you are considering Lori-Ann and Mishell's Quest for Glory novel.

Quest for Glory is the first computer game I ever played. It was 1990 and it was a hot summer, and I was so very sure that I didn't like computers and computer games, but my friend Tara was very patient and persistent.

So I tried the game.

We played for hours! Then I went home and talked about it for hours, telling my mom and dad and sister all about how cool it was.

That was thirteen years ago, and it still has the same magic for me that it had back then. When I replay the games, I remember all the friends who I introduced to the games, and their reactions to various parts of the story. For me, Quest for Glory has always been an interactive experience as I played it with different friends, sharing the story and our time with each other.

Quest for Glory has honestly changed my life: I've made many great friends, I've learned how to use a computer, I've taught my sister and father how to use a computer, and my husband and met each other! And, as I look ahead, I'm looking forward to playing the Quest for Glory games and reading Quest for Glory books with our (future) children.

Thank you for taking the time to read fan comments, and for considering such a wonderful project for publication. I look forward to reading Lori-Ann and Mishell's book very soon.

I, also, wish to add my full support to the publishing of a Quest for Glory novel. I have always enjoyed the Quest for Glory computer games immensely, marveling at the imagination and skill that were poured into them. As soon as I heard a novel was ready for print, I was determined to purchase a copy as soon as it hit the shelves.
I am firmly convinced that all those who thrilled to the games will wish to read the book, and I am equally convinced that if the novel's as good as the games, many people who never even played the first Quest for Glory will be spelbound by the great setting and skill that already made the game series a bestseller.

Kindest regards,

E.C. (Mark B.)
