So what is it? Mine's rum and croak.
I know there are more drinks than this, but I forgot, so if you choose 'other' please specify what is it? Coffee is included there too.

Oh? I don't see Wherewolf Whisky on there. . .
Apart from the ten item limitation, I have two problems.
1: I don't think I came by all the drinks, so I might have missed one in the game.
2: My QFG 5 game is currently out of order, I think it might be my computer/hardware and no the game itself, but if it is, then all is lost really.
Then again, I may be able to play QFG if I turn off the music, voice and sound, but that wouldn't be very fun, then again, I've played all my old DOS games without sound and I had lots of fun! So I guess that can apply to 1998, 3D games!
I'll try that and see what happens, cheers!

Paladinlover
Jul 11 2003, 01:57 PM
Well why don't you click on the 'other' option Almirena? I mean I think that's something of a requirement.
In anycase, the coffee in QFG 5 is Greek coffee, and according to the hero, he says that it tastes something like mud, or something like that anyway.
IMHO I think the last time the hero had a good cup of coffee was in QFG 1, in QFG 2 the Rasierian coffee was 'bitter' and 'oddly likeable', but in QFG 1, the coffee was the best.

Hey, I like coffee too, but Tea in general is my favorite. But right now I'm drinking coffee because I bought some delicious (and expensive) Starbucks coffee, the bag holds some 250 grams of that excellent stuff.
At all other times however, I'd rather have Earl Gray.

Coffee - black, without sugar, nothing to distract from the aromatic taste and smell of the coffee itself... dark roasted, not burnt... ground from the finest of beans, from those whole beans which I store in the refrigerator in an airtight container...
Sweet slightly spicy red wine...
Cool clear white wine...
Advokaat... and other shockingly delicious liquers...
Orange juice - freshly squeezed...
Strawberry and apple juice - I have only one word to say. "Heaven."
Japanese tea - the real tea, with rice in it.
jasmine tea.
Other exotic teas...
And the diet Coke I shouldn't drink...

People, I didn't have space for all of that. And no, I don't consider coffee in the same catagory as beer, wine (Retsina is Greek wine) and ouzo. Coffee isn't alcoholic, and it's not a depressant, it's a stimulant, and not to mention that most alcoholic drinks are served cold rather than hot, and who's ever heard of 'ice coffee' anyway.
Do you people get my meaning?

Jul 14 2003, 01:02 PM
Er... not only have I heard of it, but I've HAD iced coffee...
Mind you, I prefer coffee hot, but it can be extraordinarily refreshing made very cold, with ice cubes...
However, it is indubitably true that coffee is not alcoholic unless one pours alcohol into it.

Wel yes, there is a thing called Irish coffee, which is a hot alcoholic drinks (and yes, it has coffee as a prime ingredent), but in the game, it's just plain coffee and it should be in the same place as the rest of the 'regulars'.

I don't drink. <smile> At least, not the alcoholic stuff. Swore off it. Won't touch it. Complete teetotaller. Once, I drank beer - for about two weeks or so - until I realised that it tasted like... <makes a face>
IRL, I try to limit my caffeine intake, so a cup or two of tea per day perhaps - Earl Grey, for preference - and perhaps a glass of orange juice. I used to drink coffee all the time while in university, but for a few months after graduating, I would get the most appalling migraines after drinking it. Now I can drink coffee once in a while, but I try not to do it too much.
On the other hand, in the actual game, I'd try any drink, just to see how the hero would react to it. I would love to see what the hero's reaction would be after drinking a shot of scumble, though... <devilish grin>

Jul 29 2003, 05:53 PM
To drink or not to drink is entirely your choice Rath
But in video games... who cares! It's just a game, you can kiss a girl, get really drunk, die, rob a bank, blow up a country and you'd still go to bed with a clear consence

I don't drink alcohol either, well... that's not the entire truth. I don't mind the odd glass of champagne New Years eve or alcohol in deserts or dishes, but I don't relish the thought of loosing control of myself, and since most people at my age drink not becourse of the taste, but to get drunk, I see little reason partaking in it.
But I don't mind other peoples alcohol consumption (as long as they don't develop an addiction mind you). It's their body, their choice.
In my day to day life I tend to concentrate on Milk (about 2,5 liters a day) and water for the rest, though it happens that I drink both Apple and Orange juice.
In the game, well. I almost never tend to buy anything - I mean what's the pay off, your stats doesn't change, and you only risk getting a wee bit to much and ending in the gutter in front of the Dead Parrot inn (hence the "tend"). Of course you might play the hero as one who likes to kick back and get a few droughts now and then, then that's justified.
However when I DO buy drinks it tend to be the Greek coffee.

That's the problem with many young drinkers, to them, liquor, beer and wine is not something to be shared and enjoyed, but to be abused time and again.
