Much time can be wasted in Spielburg by clicking on to the trees of the Forest.

Perhaps the first time you clicked on, you received the helpful information that the tree was a fir. Or a spruce. Or something else.

But...

... each time you click, there's a different answer - or at least, the POSSIBILITY of a different answer. For your viewing pleasure, I present the following tree names revealed by repeated and stubborn clicking!

It's amazing that Lori and Corey were able to cram so many jokes where people wouldn't otherwise think to look. I must admit to my shame that I never thought of looking at the trees, because I just assumed that the game would say "It looks pretty normal" (as Sierra games often do).

Sheriff Schultz sits on his verandah, smoking his pipe and looking relaxed. Otto is by his side, playing with his Chinese finger puzzle as usual. Suddenly, Otto looks at his green tunic, suspenders, shorts, hat etc. and comes to a realization.

Otto: You know vhat, Schultz?

Schultz: (muzzily) Mmm?

Otto: I'm sick of beingk zhe sidekick.

Schultz: Er... vhat?

Otto: I didn't vant to do zhis.
I didn't vant to be on zhis verandah, playing zhis stupid game.
I didn't vant to be stuck in zhis ghastly job vhere I never even get to say anything, nor even express my inner creative side.

A Lumberjack!

Schultz vatches... er, watches in amazement as Otto throws off the silly hat, throws down the finger puzzle, and reaches for a lumberjack's ax.

Otto: Cutting down tree after tree as zhey stand in my vay in zhe Spielburgian forest! Zhe gazebo on zhe hoof! Zhe Scotch pine! Zhe larch, zhe fir! Zhe Ash or Christmas or maybe scrub oak! Vizh my ax by my side, I'd sing, sing, SING!

Otto: I'm a lumberjack, I vield an ax,
And for my service, I don't pay tax!

The baker and butcher inexplicably stop playing Go Fish and form an improptu chorus.

Baker & Buthcer: He's a lumberjack, he vields an ax,

Otto: I trudge around, I cut trees down,
I sharpen my ax all day!
And Hilde gives me apples,
For vhich I gladly pay!

Schultz: Vell, two actually. Vone, zhat is my ax you got there...

Otto: I hoped you vouldn't notice.

Schultz: And two, you are zhe vorst voodcutter in zhe entire vorld.

Otto: Oh, yeah, zhat's right.

Schultz: So, back to sidekicking for you!

Otto: (puts on a 'dumb goon' voice) Duh, yes boss. (curses sotto voce)

I never knew that happened, what do you have to do to make him sing that. Usually when I just wait there Otto is playing with his toy and suddenly his arms go really fast and the thing on his... thing flies onto my head and then back to his... thing?

Ahem... there's no lumberjack song. That's just Rath parodying the famous Lumberjack Song from the Monty Python Flying Circus films/episodes, etc. <smile>

Thought so, I knew it was from the Monty Python song but I was wondering if it was actually in the game. That would be a damn funny easter egg if it was. And BTW good work on all the Tree descriptions,

Considering how many there are, and how rare some appear!

Your telling me, check out how long it took for the Ladyhawke reference in QFG 5 to appear. Heck, nobody even got the Elvis Presly reference in QFG 5 either. Even though it was so blatantly obvious and easy to find.
