Alright, I recently bought QFG anthology of Ebay adn the problems are endless. alright:
Note: I use Windows XP home edition (unforunatly)
Firstly, none of the games will install to my hard drive, I tried the Install.exe, nothing happened, I tried copy pasting it into another folder on the Hard drive; Ive basically tried everything and I cant get them to install to the hard drive.
Second: I can play 1-2 via the CD but I cannot save, I set my configuration to "use my CPU's additional memory" and it saved for a while and cleared, apperently it is RAM.
Thrid: the QFG 4 installation is in German, and although Im sure I could make it through the installation with the little german I know, but Im sure I could not play the game
I have not tried QFG 3 yet, but judging on the other games, it wont work.
Im poor with DOS and cant get DOSbox to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreiciated.

Hello, 'Enery.
Try reading through
this thread for a considerable amount of help.
Re QfG4 being in German... could you email me with a list of the files on your disc? Or check through to be ABSOLUTELY sure there's no English version!
I could certainly help with the German, but of course it would be a painful business for you to copy down everything the characters say... VERY painful.

Did you ever figure out a way around the QG4 german version? I found a copy of the qfg collection at a second hand software store yesterday, and Im having the same problem. All of the other games (1-3) work fine, in english, but qfg4 is in german.
Any help or info would be appreciated.

I don't understand. Why would they make a second release of the Qfg Anthology and put the German version of Qfg4 only?
Normally it should be one version (the one most of us got obviously) that has all the languages of each game available.
At any rate - try the guide here and let us know how it works for you:

Unless there’s something drastically different with your anthology disc compared to mine, I might be able to offer some insight.
If you look at the contents of your disc, you should see folders for QG1NEW, QG1OLD, QG2, QG3 (in seperate English, French, German, Itallian, and Spanish versions), QG4CD, and QG4G35 (Which stands for German, 3½” Disk... as in text only, abeit german text.)
The catch is that the QG4CD folder is practically empty. The contents you would think should be in that folder are actually placed in the root of the disc. (I never know how much of the terminology I take for granted is known by the inexperienced user.... by Root, I mean the bottom of the folder structure... or top, depending on your orientation... basically D:\, or C:\, as opposed to D:\MyFolder\)
There is one things I’m curious about, if you’ll indulge: You said you couldn’t get any of the games to install; you tried running install.exe, and you tried copying them to the hard drive. How exactly did it not work, after copying to the hard disk? How did you go about copying it to your hard disk? I don’t mean to be acusatory; the more facts are known, the quicker it is to help.

I have real no problems running any of the games on my comp. Well other than the Audio Problems, that's it . I know most of you guys are going to ask the How is that possiable question so I am going to answer you. I currently Run a P2 233 mmhz MMX Computer. Here's the other thing I have a lot of stuff like kazzaa Runinng in the Back ground, so I guess it slows my comp down real slow.

Sorry I was gone for so long, I basically gave up after months of trying but I stil really wanted to play again so Im trying again. My disk is exactly like charles's and to answer the question about it not installing, I press install.exe (in every location I can find it) and the screen goes black for a little bit then jut goes back to the windows screen, OR theres door two in which I go through the enitre process of installation (chooseing settings and such) get done and Nothing happens, it doesn't in stall anywhere or anything of that nature.
I thought I hit frustration with installation of Kings quest, but that was nothing. Either nothing starts or it just does nothing.

I Finnaly Got 4 to work. Heres how I did it. I Installed it to the D drive, then at the very end it says "to play now enter in this:...... to play later enter:....."
Write down the directory for "play later" then search it.
When you find it, copy the .exe into a file.
Right click the EXE hit "run with VDMSound"
Bam it should work.
I may have messed up a bit in my directions. When I first did it I ran it straight from the search window with VDMS sound. Then Copied it, but It shouldn't make a difference.
If you dont have VDMSound just run it normal, if yours is anything like mine the sound will be very choppy.
